Quick question about the sentiment of a minor change for the theme settings.

The theme dropdown currently has "frio and vier". The question is, should we add "(default)" to the frio listing, to indicate that it is the default theme?

You are welcome to share your preference and what you think about this potential change. Looking forward to your thoughts.

hypolite,

@wilhelm I don’t think that’s warranted, the “default” theme is the one you’ll first encounter on the node you signed up on. I don’t think it matters to users whether it’s a project-wide default.

Everybody has feet, but it seems to me only men can have a foot fetish?

hypolite,

These past couple weeks, I've been regularly tired despite sleeping more than usual, been more sensitive to small setbacks (some of you have noticed on here), but more importantly lost the willingness to improve my current situation.

Several months ago I found my IRL social circle shrinking and I set out to expand it by joining a board game meetup weekly. It didn't pan out as I expected, there was a lot of gaming with was mostly nice, but no socialization opportunity at all. I recently considered the volunteering avenue, but this plan fizzled even before I started for a lack of want.

At this point I'm not sure what to do anymore since I'm pushing away the few people I still interact with and I can't seem to meet new ones even when I try. And this energy/sleep issue is concerning, I used to be able to get out of mental ruts by resuming a regular sleep schedule.

hypolite,

I wasn’t sure what reactions to expect when I posted this, it didn’t even include a call to action, but all the replies I’ve received were kind and helpful, it’s been very much appreciated at a time when I have been feeling like withdrawing from social spaces altogether.

Thank you all ❀

hypolite,

hypolite,

@andi Thanks, you're the second person suggesting depression, I'll schedule a doctor's appointment as soon as possible.

"I don't understand why other people don't think like me" says more about one's lack of curiosity or understanding than about the people mentioned. One doesn't have to agree with someone else to understand what underpins their diverging opinion. Worse, it may show one's assuming there's only One True Way of thinking about something which increases one's sensibility to propaganda.

No matter what you believe in, staying curious about why other people think differently allows you to understand exactly why you disagree beyond a knee-jerk reaction and makes you more able to change your own opinions if the reasons for them change.

hypolite,

@vic This mindset is independent of specific opinions and invoking it to peddle your personal grievances is exactly what I've been trying to warn about in my post.

In particular, branding anything as "evil" directly falls in the "One True Way" pitfall by preemptively forbidding any understanding of any kind. Again, you don't have to agree to understand.

hypolite,

@kingu Oof. Still, you turned out fine, minus the idol obsession, of course.

â™Č @mjb@diaspora.glasswings.com:> ### The Dunning-Kruger Effect is Autocorrelation

Damn statistics! Dunning-Kruger Effect disproved.
Notwithstanding, as John Cleese put it:

"If you’re very very stupid, how can you possibly realize that you’re very very stupid?"
