I needed a non-computer project this Fall, because I usually spend about 12-16 hours a day on computers 🙃:crt_w_green_lines:

So I decided to start
trying to grow Water-Spinach inside! 💧🌱☀️

I have become @tinker 's
Solarpunk-Gardener-Padawan and under their guidance look at what I was just able to grow!

It's spinach seeds!
Germinating!
In wet cotton balls!
With only water and nothing else!
Nature is awesome! ✨

More updates to come soon!

Thanks for all of your wise-advise Solarpunk-Gardener-Jedi-Tinker ☀️ :blobcatheart:

infopunk,

@Em0nM4stodon @tinker Get an amateur radio license and go full analog. Build your own radio. Make contacts on air, join a club, make friends. Do it all from printed books and not online.

Recently on a local facebook buy/sale/trade group someone put their house on the website for a ridiculously low amount (under $2000) and said that the house is not livable and needs to be torn down. There is a picture of the house and the city where it is located. He also used his real facebook account.

I exercised my budding #OSINT skills and found out some interesting info. First, I found that he lived in that city and when I checked the address, I saw that the house is the same one from the facebook group. I now know that he did at least live in the house at one time. However according to the county tax assessor, he is not the owner of the house.

I wrote back to him privately with these facts. I might actually buy the house for the land and build something on it. Of course, I may have freaked him out by replying with much more info than he had given. I'm just doing my due diligence and I will need to know for sure that the house is legit before I spend any money.

infopunk,

Update: he responded saying that the person who owns the house is his girlfriend. I gave him my thowaway phone number and told him that I would buy it in person and in cash with my lawyer present right after Christmas. We'll see what happens.

infopunk,

@chiefgyk3d It sounds like a great deal to me. I grew up in the town over from this one and we always rented. This will be my first real estate. We'll what happens!

infopunk,

@chiefgyk3d Just FYI, he broke off all contact. Either than means he sold the house or he got scared off.

infopunk,

@chiefgyk3d Yup, I've got my eye on that.

Please, EU and other governments make desktop software yearly subscriptions illegal from the likes of Microsoft, Adobe, and others. This is nothing but another example of crash grabs. I hate this so much. What do you think?

infopunk,

@nixCraft LibreOffice/Gimp doesn't require a subscription. What we need is more people making the applications better alternatives to paid software rather than more laws which will be written by corrupt politicians.

One of the things that I really don't like about the #OSINT community is that it is fairly closed to people on the outside who want to get it.

For example, there are all of these great courses, conferences, etc. that tailor to people already in the industry. However, if you don't already have a company behind you paying for these things, they can really break the bank.

How do you break into the field from the outside? I think that's one of the hardest questions to answer.

infopunk,

@webbreacher @hatless1der

I've taken some of the free courses I'm aware of a lot of the free resources. So far I've got a few hundred links, documents, etc. saved. But reading, doing online courses, and watching videos isn't isn't the same thing as being a part of a community of people who are already in the field. If I want to actually meet those people and also get my name out there, then there's that high barrier of entry.
