Pale Waves first played “Noises” in New York during the second half of their US tour in April 2018. The whole band teased it on Twitter in a series of tweets just 3 days before they played it.

When asked about “Noises” in an interview before the song had even been heard, Heather said,

“We’ve got this one song called ‘Noises’, and that’s a song that’s about very low self-esteem and analysing yourself too much, and I can’t wait until people who are a bit insecure about stuff can hear that song, because I feel like they’ll feel better after it. That they’ll know that other people feel that way. I can’t wait.”

The song was premiered on June 28th as Zane Lowe’s Hottest World Record on the Beats 1 Show at 9AM PST, following a similar release fashion to some of their other songs.

The music video came out officially on 20th July 2018.

Pale Waves, an indie pop band from Manchester, released their debut album “My Mind Makes Noises” in 2018. One of the standout tracks from the album is “Noises,” a melancholic and introspective song that delves into themes of self-doubt and low self-esteem.

Mutation Has Led to a New Type of Cat, Scientists Say [Sharon Adarlo | May 25 24 | Futurism] (futurism.com)

A research team has identified a new type of cat which has the typical adorable face and fur pattern of the black and white tuxedo cat, but with a difference: the fur on this feline’s back starts off with a solid color at its base, such as black, and gradually turns white at the tip — all caused by a unique mutation....

The researchers — made up of scientists and animal welfare advocates — revealed this new cat in a study published earlier this month in the journal Animal Genetics and gave its uncommon cat coloring the name salmiak, after a popular salty licorice in Finnish, to invoke the salt and pepper fur of this kitty.

Research was “First published: 09 May 2024”

Abstract

Cats with a distinctive white hair pattern of unknown molecular cause have been discovered in the Finnish domestic cat population. Based on the unique appearance of these cats, we have named this phenotype salmiak (“salty licorice”). The use of a commercially available panel test to genotype four salmiak-colored cats revealed the absence of all known variants associated with white-haired phenotypic loci: full White (W), Spotting (Ws) and the Birman white Gloves associated (wg) allele of the KIT proto-oncogene (KIT) gene. Whole-genome sequencing on two salmiak-colored cats was conducted to search for candidate causal variants in the KIT gene. Despite a lack of coding variants, visual inspection of the short read alignments revealed a large ~95 kb deletion located ~65 kb downstream of the KIT gene in the salmiak cats. Additional PCR genotyping of 180 domestic cats and three salmiak-colored cats confirmed the homozygous derived variant genotype fully concordant with the salmiak phenotype. We suggest the newly identified variant be designated as wsal for “w salmiak”.

Great question:

Seems to be correct, I would guess they went in for shelter.

Found article about the 150 number:

A mass casualty event has been declared at a Shell truck stop gas station in Valley View, Texas, where up to 150 people are trapped due to a roof collapse.

As well as:

Police scanners report that at least 150 people are trapped inside the gas station, and multiple injuries have been reported.

Informative comment:

@walthaus

The German word for “national” is definitely not spelled with the letter Z , it’s spelled the same as in English, the reason it’s called Nazi party is because in Germany socialists ( Sozialisten) are commonly referred to as “Sozis”, so the combination is “Nationalist” and “Sozi” or “Sozialist”= Nazi.

And Adolf Hitler didn’t propose that name anyway, The party was initially called German Worker’s Party ( DAP =deutsche Arbeiterparty) and the executive committee , following Rudolf Jung’s recommendation, changed the name to NSDAP, adding the words National and Socialist , both over Hitler’s objections. Hitler wanted the name to be “Social Revolutionary Party”. However, RudolfJung, having written a book on “National Socialism” a book he hoped was going to be as important to Nazi ideology as “Das Kapital” was to Marxism/ Socialism, was able to convince Hitler to go along with the new party name. The word “Socialism” was indeed added to attract left-wing workers, but it was, of course a 'bait’n’switch" since Nazis were definitely anti socialist, ant-communist and anti-marxist.

Alt-Country/Americana (serious gospel influences on this one): Justin Townes Earle Performs "Harlem River Blues" on Letterman (www.youtube.com)

You want to talk about a legacy? Try being Steve Earle’s kid, named after Townes Van Zandt, and inheriting every bit of talent and disfunction that implies. Always looking to push clear of their shadow, his voice (both as a singer and a writer) was decidedly less country, but still brilliant and deeply rooted in American roots...

We threw a curve ball at Justin Townes Earle. Despite his five albums full of well-loved songs, we asked him to play new material for this Tiny Desk Concert; songs we hadn’t yet heard. Earle’s new album Single Mothers comes out this week, and here he performs two tracks from that record: “White Gardenias,” his nod to Billie Holiday, and "Burning Pictures."Based in Nashville, Earle is a strong lyricist with a father, Steve Earle, who similarly finds strength in perfectly crafted words. The younger Earle is on tour now, playing old and new songs, so here’s a taste of his sharp songwriting to tide you over until he comes to your town. --BOB BOILEN

Set List:

  1. “Burning Pictures”
  2. “When The One You Love Loses Faith In You”
  3. “White Gardenias”

Nice!

I first heard the enchanting melody of “Aria” by Delerium on a warm summer evening. As a music enthusiast, I often find myself diving deep into various genres and artists, always on the lookout for something unique and captivating. One day, while visiting a friend’s house, I stumbled upon this gem, and little did I know that it would leave an everlasting impression on me.
