After all these years, I just realized the input sensitivity selector switch on two of my speakers does nothing. The speakers have been working at -10dBV all this time. The switch was set to +4dBu, but since the switch doesn't work on either speaker, I didn't notice until I added a third speaker, apparently the only one with a working input sensitivity selector switch. 😅
Thuận's Chinatown is only partially translated into English by Nguyễn An Lý, using e.g. "thuốc láo" instead of the more familiar English word, "tobacco."
A more thoroughly translated edition might be more readable, but then, how would I feel special? 🤪
@kai Not the same, but it reminds me of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. That's an English book, set in Germany. He sometimes uses German phrases and then immediately follows it up with the English translation.
Like, he's just showing off that he knows German. It was so damn annoying. I really dislike that pretentious-ass book, haha.
@jellal Chinatown is so well regarded. There's a lot in it about the immigrant experience, being an outsider, etc. It should be right up my alley. It's exotic. But I'm definitely not enjoying it.
Who knows; maybe in one year I'll think it's the best thing I've ever read.
I finally got the clock rate set for my sound card on the Pinebook Pro. I thought I was using PipeWire because that's what is listed under Preferences on Reaper, but apparently it's still PulseAudio.
Configuring audio on Linux remains enigmatic, but it works. 😌
