This is the first stable release that includes Risc-V 64 support thanks to Milk-V.

Been fighting a nightmare bug in busybox awk. It all started yesterday when I was looking into fixing CVE-2023-42364 and CVE-2023-42365. I found out that git master did not trigger the POC. With git bisect I found the commit which coincidentally fixes the issue. Cherry-pick. all good.

Today I got a report that busybox awk was broken. The "fix" introduces a nasty regression. Some more research revealed that the commit is very questionable.

So now I'm reverting it, and we are back to start.

The work for 3.20 release is progressing. riscv64 is now the build bottleneck again. 537 packages left before we can do a release candidate.

It's hard to pick favorites, as many of my photos turned out pretty good. So here's a few picked to give you an idea of how varied the show was tonight.

this photo was taken just moments after the previous one. the angle is almost identical, but now the columns are mostly green, with some faint red, purple, and blue also visible
the sky seen straight upwards. the aurora seems to pour down from the heavens like a cosmic shower. it spirals in a great mix of green, purple, red, yellow, and white. some of the sight is blocked by trees, giving it an immense sense of scale
now looking towards the bay again, the aurora seems to emanate from the corner of the frame, spreading outwards in a fan. there's a bright red column in the middles, and many more columns of green around it. they all reflect off the water

HOLY SHIT I CAN SEE THE AURORA FROM JUST OUTSIDE LONDON

Not quite that bright. Definitely not that saturated. But I can see the streaks and a slight tinge of colour.

Look north, avoid light pollution. It just looks like cloud until you notice. Point a camera at it and you’ll see the colour on screen then can work it out in person

I'm glad to announce the release of version 2.52 of , the simple, minimalistic instance server written in C. It includes the following changes:

Posts that were liked or boosted can now be unliked and unboosted.

Outgoing message timeouts are no longer hardcoded and can be configured (see snac(8) for more information).

Fixed a bug that caused some incorrect unfollows under special conditions (with shared inboxes enabled and users from the same instance that follow each other, the internal message distributor was confused).

Mastodon API: Added support for lists.

Added a header to avoid over-zealous caching in some browsers (contributed by louis77).

Added support for running and federating inside hidden networks like Tor, I2P or Loki (contributed by iwojima).

Fixed an error processing polls coming from Pleroma instances.

Preferably electronic without vocals (vocalization OK) + a little more energetic than lo-fi.

I'm looking for music to use with my travel video and I'd love to use something less known. I always end up on the same usual suspects like NCS / Epidemic Sound / Monstercat and I can recognize them without looking. I want to break the bubble.

Got my hands on an old Mac Mini G4 PPC and immediately installed NetBSD 10 . Good docs of course, including specific to the G4. Once you get the hang of partioning for Open Firmware 3, pretty straight forward. My first Apple product 😂
