I stupidly got a Keychron "Pro" model because I read that they have better battery life than the "Max" models, they're cheaper, and I was overconfident that Bluetooth would work on Linux.

But the "Max" models come with a 2.4gHz dongle which is probably going to work.

"It's just money," and, "I can always earn more," I tell myself. 😅

It's my first time trying Bluetooth on Linux and I ran into this interesting bug: https://github.com/bluez/bluez/issues/319 🤪

As a help desk employee, you'll hate your job a lot less if you have empathy for those you help.

@brandon you mean the plebs!? 🤪

@brandon The accountants always ask me to email them reconciliation reports. At first I thought it was some sort of permission issue where they don't have access to the reports, but I later realized they just don't know how to transfer files.

Instead of trying to teach them, I just email the reports when asked. 🤪

I'm glad to announce the release of version 2.52 of , the simple, minimalistic instance server written in C. It includes the following changes:

Posts that were liked or boosted can now be unliked and unboosted.

Outgoing message timeouts are no longer hardcoded and can be configured (see snac(8) for more information).

Fixed a bug that caused some incorrect unfollows under special conditions (with shared inboxes enabled and users from the same instance that follow each other, the internal message distributor was confused).

Mastodon API: Added support for lists.

Added a header to avoid over-zealous caching in some browsers (contributed by louis77).

Added support for running and federating inside hidden networks like Tor, I2P or Loki (contributed by iwojima).

Fixed an error processing polls coming from Pleroma instances.

Usage tips: Use social media as little as possible. Go for a walk. Meet with friends. Read a good book.

@grunfink Does snac federate with Threads? Apparently there's some bug with Threads that prevents GoToSocial from working with it.

@grunfink Interesting! This is not being well-reported.

tbh they should just repurpose the android lawn sculpture land as a mock cemetery for their killed products. https://9to5google.com/2024/04/30/google-needs-a-more-formalized-way-to-kill-products/

kai, (edited )
@kai@ajin.la avatar

@samhenrigold they could save a lot of money by killing products before they're developed

I know it's not worth getting annoyed about, but the service center had no record of my work order or that my car had ever been there.

It's not quite Kafkaesque, but it's the opposite of what I expect in the contemporary information-dense world.

FREE DESIGN CONSULTATION for this flow:

[iOS in-app alert]

“Are you enjoying this app?”

[Yes / No]

Yes -> prompt user for App Store review

No -> take user to in-app form asking why they don’t like the app

My suggestion:

  1. don’t do this
  2. if you’re going to anyway, make the very first option on the “No” form be auto-selected and it says “I actually like the app, I just didn’t want to say ‘yes’ and be taken to fill out a review at the moment you asked because I’m busy”

@samhenrigold @jimniels 4th option: a text box prompting the user to set the price of their opinion, which the developer would then have the option of soliciting or negotiating
