Made with noise and 2 digital video feedback loops.

#feedback #noise

(The original animation looks much crisper. But will be as mp4 file many 100 KByte large. So here is the highly compressed version.)

A rotating noisy pattern in gray scale. Plus an overly of rectangles inverting the brightness.

"into the dark"

Made another filter for the smartphone. It is a bit frustrating to take photos with this manipulation because Safari crashes after every shot on my smartphone. OK, it's too much for the device when you push it to the limit.

The colors are manipulated with a shader directly in the smartphone during the shot.

The geometric distortion is a dipol conformal map. It is made with as post processing.

I am trying to sample a texture "incorrectly" with . A noise function is supposed to provide the displacement error. It doesn't work properly yet, but it looks quite interesting.

So far i thought it would be complicated to give photos this look.
Here it was simple: the green channel is greatly reduced in intensity. Blue somewhat amplified. That it looks so alien to us is probably because we expect a fresh green in this motif.

A distorted fern leaf.

This picture was created in several steps:

First, slowly moving the camera over the leaf. The result is a short movie, not yet the final still image.

Then split the frames of this movie into approximately 4200 individual images.

Now cut out a narrow circular strip from each image.

At the end, put all the strips together to form the final image.

Don't worry: I'm not doing it by hand. It's a combination of ffmpeg and self-written Java software.

Another attempt with a Perlin Noise in a digital feedback loop. In post-processing, the grayscales were mapped onto a palette.

(ns lv.demo)
(use 'lv.core)

(layout "grid" [ras0 mopr1] [ras2 frag3])
(render 3)

;noise source
(hsv :ras0 [mopr1]
(v (unoise (* mopr1.v 6 y) (+ x y)))
)

;morphological operator
(expr :mopr1 [ras0] "eeeebbbbb")

;damping
(hsv :ras2 [ras2 ras0]
(v (mix ras2.v ras0.v ks1))
)

;palette
(expr :frag3 [ras2]
"frag/pal_Browns-And-Yellows.frag"
)

In the feedback loop, organically acting capillaries become visible.

Have been looking at tutorials from @emptyflash

About fractal like feedback loops made with the Hydra video synthesizer. Now i am trying to do it the same way.

I am currently trying to extract the dominant colors from photos. Later i want to create color palettes with 4 to 16 different colors. Color Quantization is not accurate. It can create interesting contrasts in false colors.

Reduced to 4 colors. CMY color space for calculating the 'color distances'.
Reduced to 12 colors. HSB color space for calculating the 'color distances'.
16 colors. XYZ color space for calculating the 'color distances'.
