kazerniel,

Oh RSS feed is a good idea. The only sub I still check is r/Genshin_Impact_Leaks xd

Edit: Anyone knows a better free web-based RSS reader than Feedly? It kept sending me to its paid service for trying to sub to a Reddit feed, until I subbed to it via SiftRSS D:

kazerniel,

thanks, I’ll check it out :)

kazerniel,

I’m moderately excited, looking forward to exploring the new landscape, but aside of Lyney, I don’t particularly want to pull for any of the characters. (Maaaybe Wriothesley, depending on his personality and kit.)

kazerniel,

Thanks, I’ll check that one out too :)

kazerniel,

Yeah, the issue is that the whole sub is just screenshots and videos of leakers’ Telegram, Discord and Twitter channels. I don’t have free capacity for trawling through these kind of feeds, checking for reliability, etc. 😅

kazerniel,

No worries, but I’m a diehard PC user xd

I might end up going with an open-source desktop app in the end, both Fluent Reader and Raven Reader look good.

kazerniel,

Yeah, I’m looking forward to meeting Navia in-story, she seems nice, just not sure if pull-worthy nice. Otoh I really like geo characters, so if her kit is good, maybe :D I’d love another geo catalyst.

Re story: Yeah, tbh that plot arc is pretty much the only aspect of Genshin’s story I find engaging. The rest is too juvenile for my taste 😅

kazerniel,

that sounds good!

kazerniel,

thanks!

kazerniel,

thanks, I’ll check it out! I’d probably go with one of their cloud instances, as self-hosting is a pain with my skill level.

kazerniel,

kazerniel,

Not that advanced, but two things I found useful:

  • If you’re in a country that blocks torrent websites but not trackers (eg. UK), visit the sites via Tor browser.
  • Rutracker.org and Rutracker.ru are surprisingly not blocked in the UK and have lots of good software. They’re BBCode-style forums, so fairly obvious how to navigate/search them even if you don’t speak Russian. If you want to read the description or comments of a specific torrent, pop the page into google translate.
kazerniel,

Yeah, before comments were added, you just reblogged the post, and added your content in the bottom, so the posts became increasingly nested as they moved through chains of followers.

Unlike Reddit/Lemmy, this system made it very hard to follow the entire conversation, as you could only see whichever specific “branch” reached you via the people you follow, and you had to go digging in the notes of the original post to try to find other response threads. (Which, in the case of truly popular posts with hundreds of reblogs buried among thousands of likes, good luck.)

Oh and you could also edit the original post (and any edits the OP made didn’t show up in existing responses as they essentially snapshotted it in the moment of reblog), meaning it was very hard to find the canonical / original versions of famous threads. Especially as people often deleted their accounts, so the only place a thread might be preserved is some never seen reblog of an obscure, abandoned account :D

They improved the UX a bit in recent years (comments, separating reblogs from likes), but I think due to its innate structure Tumblr is still pretty messy for trying to have conversations with more than a single person. It’s still better than Twitter lol. And of course Reddit/Lemmy is miles above either.

kazerniel,

For actual conversations, yeah. I still check one subreddit daily for game leak updates, but that’s pretty much it.

kazerniel, (edited )

Ahogy olvastam, a helyi lakosok nagyon utálják az ilyen utakat 😬

kazerniel,

For conversations: I’m not fully up to date on the technology, but last year’s text generator versions could still be confused if you suddenly switched topics. Like iirc that published Lamda interview was very careful not to throw any tricky questions into the dialogue.

For just regular text: ChatGPT still has a characteristic “voice”, though as far as I heard they are working on toning it down. I know you can already make it “roleplay” though which seems to be successful in taking on very different tones. (“pretend you’re a grandma”)

I think as time goes on we can be less and less sure if what we’re reading are actual humans, and I don’t think there’s any way we can defend ourselves either against exposure or accusations 🤷‍♂️

kazerniel,

This one seems to have actual user activity, the other one has zero comments.

(And since when do we care if a community is "official"? If we did, we would be on the HoYo forums 🤷‍♂️)

kazerniel,

I'm more excited for Kokomi, but really looking forward to finally getting Layla too, I'm always so short on cryo characters, and her gameplay seemed fun.

PC players, what is your preferred way of playing the game?

I can play with both Controller and Mouse&Keyboard but I'm kinda bias towards M&K since that's what I started with, even though I always play 3rd person action RPG on PC with a Controller and I still like using it for Genshin but for some reason it feels a little off for me, what about you?

kazerniel,

I've always been a mouse+keyboard gamer, so using that for Genshin too :)

Out of curiosity I tried playing Genshin on mobile and on PC with controller, but found the lack of mouse camera rotation really annoying.

kazerniel,

I found this a straightforward visualisation of soft pity: https://paimon.moe/wish/tally (scroll down to the second graph)

WE HAVE BACKUPS OF THE LEAKS, BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO BRING ANY TROUBLE TO ERNEST NOR THE TEAM BEHIND KBIN. WE'LL LOOK FOR ALTERNATIVE HOSTING OPTIONS BUT FOR NOW, WE'LL KEEP THE CONTENTS...
