It gets easier. Every day it gets a little easier. But you got to do it every day. That's the hard part. But it does get easier.

Something I really dislike on GitHub: when you add a new comment you have this really obvious button to insert an image, which I use all the time. But when you edit a comment, that button is gone and instead you have to use the small toolbar buttons. Why is this UI not consistent?

@djangoconeurope Question: what is the point of the virtual ticket? All the videos make it to YouTube, right? Is it just a form of donating?

I’d actually love to donate to DjangoCon EU, but not 95 euros. Is there another way to donate money? Couldn’t find anything on the site.

Every time I’m at a hotel that I booked via booking.com the staff asks for my email address (because they only get a temporary anonymous one from Booking). I always say nope, and the reaction of the staff is usually very surprised. Does everyone else just give their contact details?

“But we can’t keep in contact with you that way :(” - “Exactly, that’s the point!”

@icanzilb Yeah I never give that info, but I’m always surprised by their reaction - like I’m the first person to ever say no to this.

Even my girlfriend was like “but you have to give it” the first time this happened. We’re so trained to just go along with anyone with even a tiny bit of authority.

    @AlSweigart I thought it only spreads via their poop, basically. It’s not a virus, so the things you’re doing sound like overkill. Just get the cat the proper medicine and immediately clean the litter box when needed, into a closed bag.

    In the latest @djangochat, @nessita discussed how her non-Django friends were underwhelmed by the features in 5.0 — the major version is meant to mean some big breaking change.

    @wsvincent has discussed numerous times how the X.0, X.1, X.2 LTS, Y.0, … cycle is confusing.

    But how could we change it? The X.2 tells you WHICH ONE is the LTS.

    The 24 month cycle means that if we went CalVer (say) the .4 would always be the LTS, so 23.4 (4.2) 25.4 (5.2) and so on.

    kevinrenskers,
    @kevinrenskers@hachyderm.io avatar

    @carlton why not use actual semver? Why does the .2 version have to be the LTS one? Why have LTS at all?

    kevinrenskers,
    @kevinrenskers@hachyderm.io avatar

    @carlton okay, so keep the LTS. But no reason why this can’t be combined with semver I think. Otherwise calver does make sense as well.

    A question about , sessions for anonymous users, and how to link stuff (like baskets) to the session and then moving it to the new session when the user logs in:

    Help and advice welcome 🙏

    HEY! What are some of your favorite gadgets you got this year? And I'm not talking about an iPhone 15 Pro or whatever... tell me the quirky stuff! Neat products you love and don't think many people know about. :D

    @snazzyq smart radiator thermostats from tado. Set schedules for heating, auto away mode, set temperatures per room via the app, integrate with HomeKit.. it’s really good.

    I'm now paying $5/month for a search engine.. what a strange world :)

    I already used DuckDuckGo for 85% of my searches and only went back to Google for some code related stuff. But now I've completely switched over to Kagi. All the privacy of DuckDuckGo, user funded, no ads, no tracking, with the actual results from Google.

    I'm a bit confused by / Django REST Framework and their protection. My requests are already sending the CSRF value back via a cookie (csrf_token) but that doesn't work. I have to also send the same value as a header (X-CSRFToken). Why is that? It's the same value.

    kevinrenskers,
    @kevinrenskers@hachyderm.io avatar

    @carlton So if another site does the request, then the cookie would still automatically be added by the browser, purely based on domain name. Got it. Thanks!

    @kevinrenskers@hachyderm.io avatar

    @carlton Now I just need to figure out how to automatically fill in that header value from the cookie within RapidAPI (a sort of Postman), because filling it by hand sucks 😅
