@linuxct @zsmb13 filterIsInstance is useful in other situations where you want to treat the downstream as a specific type without casting. IOW it can spare you from immediately adding a map { it as Foo }

Weekend's here! Let's revive that side project.

1: Open personal laptop.
2: Look! New version of JetBrains Toolbox available. Update that.
3: Wait, new versions of my tools available. Update that too.
4: What? Fedora updates? Why not?

Oops! Lunch time. Gonna continue after lunch.

5: Open project. Android Studio immediately tells me about dependency updates.
6: Gradle, AGP, Kotlin, Compose, library deps, all updated.
7. Spend 30 mins getting up to speed on the code.

How is it 8PM already??!!

Congrats to Fairphone for the launch of the Fairphone 5! Promising 8 years of software support (5 major Android OS updates) for a consumer smartphone is a first in the industry!

The Fairphone 5 ships with Android 13 out of the box and should receive OS updates all the way to Android 18!

@MishaalRahman I have the FP3+. It went straight from Android 11 to Android 13, skipping Android 12.

I wonder whether 5 OS updates for FP5 could be spread over 8 years.

As a proud @frameworkcomputer laptop owner and evangelist, I absolutely detest having to give Apple my money. However I have no choice but to get an Apple computer for iOS app development.

It drives me crazy that in 2023 this is still legal. My purchase will show up in Apple's sales charts as a success story while in reality it will be a forced purchase.

    @Jdreben two can play this game. What if website owners teamed up and added a banner or something at the top of the website when they detect that a user is using Chrome? The banner could gently nudge the user away to Firefox for example. The banner could link to a more detailed explanation of why Chorne is not as good for the open web as Google makes it out to be.

    Sad state of affairs that I prefer to browse YouTube on mobile instead of web on desktop.

    Reason? The grid view on desktop truncates the titles so much that they are barely useful. I could hover over the title to see it in full, but then it is easy to hover over the thumbnail instead and trigger Auto-play. On mobile there is a list instead so the title is less likely to get truncated.

    I feel really sad for the person who had to make the decision to make Auto-play on the web unconfigurable.
