@collin I love the sound of this, but cannot figure out what he means in concrete terms. Declaring most of the west’s public lands to be monuments and safe from extraction? Something else?
30% seems like an improbably wonderful number.

My not very hot take today is that Star Trek VI is the best Star Trek movie followed by IV (the one with the whales) and Wrath of Khan, and that V and III aren’t that bad.

The only one that is hard to watch is The Motion Picture.

    @schwa there’s a range from ~10 to 500 engineers where we as an industry do not know how to scale UI development teams. Platform team impulses are a cargo cult attempt to bridge the gap, one which perfectly aligns with perennial executive fantasies about cross-platform development cutting costs in half.

    I know it’s going to take at least a month or more to see any real progress from exercising. I’m hoping if I brute force my way to that point, it will be easier to stick with it.

    @collin seeing something in the first few days is likely too, but don’t give up if the mirage fades. Stick with it for the month and you’ll be well on your way to a durable habit.

    Oh I never stated my opinion on spaces/tabs.

    Tabs are clearly the correct answer. I use spaces because I work with other people, and personally just so everything is one thing, but in a world where I could pick one or the other to be the standard, it’s tabs everytime.

    I use wrapping and feel like the editor should take care of this. If an editor actually had something like elastic tabs (without using spaces) to align things properly without me thinking about it, that would be great.

    @collin yes! This is the correct opinion.
    Separate presentation from content in order to support individual user accessibility. Tabs in the underlying source enable this without requiring heuristics to interpret long sequences of spaces.

    Wrapping is more complex though. Effectively requires a linter, or something akin to gofmt.

    I released the final update to Apollo for Reddit! 🥹 It tidies up things for the closure later today, adds some really cool easter eggs, and lets you migrate your pixel pals from Apollo to the separate Pixel Pals app, which also unlocks an Apollo Pixel Pal so he can live on ❤️

    @christianselig Please consider releasing one more update. The app started crashing on launch at 23:00 UTC, as I was trying to migrate my pixel pals to the new app. The Apollo Pixel Pal unlock does seem to work correctly.

    P.S.: Thank you for everything. Apollo was an amazing gift from you to all of us, and an inspirational example of what iOS apps can and should be. I can't wait to see what you create next!

    For anyone who was worried about me, I made an appointment with my psychiatrist for tomorrow at 8:45am. I've been having some pretty acute anxiety for a couple of weeks now that isn't going away, so I think that's what I need to do.
