Last night at the Astoria Bookshop Storytelling Show we heard about an onstage spaghetti shower, 6am calls from sister, dad trying and failing to compliment you, cutting off family for good, a misleading first impression, discovering grandpa’s ancestry, and more. I’ve seen a lot of things doing shows in NYC but tonight was a joyful first. On the show I was performing on one performer mentioned in passing needing a new apartment. Later in the show another performer, from onstage, offered that performer a room to rent at their place.

I turn 38 today. Last night I was performing onstage, working out something that’ll be in a new one-man show I’m performing next month. Tomorrow I’ll be in a classroom teaching storytelling. The arts admin job I’ve been working this year is not just a job I work to support doing something else, it’s something I’m passionate about and I want to be doing. Things can always be better. Always. But things are pretty good.

I picked up some free COVID tests and KN95 masks from the staff of my New York State Assemblymember Zohran Kwame Mamdani. Stop in and pick some up yourself, 11am-7pm on Mondays and Thursdays, at 24-08 32nd Street here in #Astoria (aka “The block where they shot the first act of Goodfellas.”)
