I took yesterday off because of a bad headache and cancelled all meetings today. Result: thinking is possible again and work is getting done. What a surprise! Agile, as applied in big companies, doesn't empower developers, it drives them crazy.

Da verzichtet man. Auf Fleisch, Milch und schaut, dass man so wenig wie möglich Müll produziert und die Scheiss Lufthansa tätigt 18.000 Leerflüge damit sie die Slots an den Flughäfen nicht verliert. Eigentlich kann man sich die individuellen Anstrengungen wirklich sparen. Natürlich ist das Kerosins noch steuerfrei. 🤮

the ci pipeline on github just failed because for some reason in the microsoft-provided ubuntu image localhost doesn't resolve to ::1 -- or docker doesn't respond to ipv6 and somehow the address was resolved as ipv4 before? i don't know, this is too many layers of cursed

very few people know of, or remember, David Joiner/Talin: creator of the Faery Tale Adventure series, and Inherit the Earth.

for years he's been writing #gamedev articles on medium that don't get a ton of readers. his in-the-trenches recollections of authoring games in the 80s, 90s and 2000s are well told, and are often genuinely heart wrenching. they stand in sharp contrast to the mythical, heroic dramas of self-styled superstar industry vets that have been talked to death already.

instead, david's stories offer honest reflections on human fragility, and growing up in what usually amounts to a financially ruinous industry, from a dorky teenager to his retirement.
