During the lockdowns, I couldn’t go to the bookstores to get my books so I just ordered them online. Quite a few of my books from that period are knockoffs since sellers in my country have a tendency to photocopy books. This was my first replacement. Can’t wait to slowly replace all the knockoff books on my shelf.
I’ve created and account in programming.dev. When I search for a community, sometimes I don’t find in when I search in programming.dev but I find it in lemmy.world
Your instance isn’t defederated from too many big instances. (LW is defederated from beehaw.org so I have alternative accounts to view posts from there).
Your instance doesn’t have a specific topic that you aren’t interested in. (LW is a general-topic instance so that’s all good).
Your instance has good uptime. (LW often has issues with huge masses of users migrating over from Reddit).
Right now I have my feed sorted by Hot. The sixth post in my feed is 19 days old, has zero comments, and one upvote. I’m struggling to work out what algorithm is deciding this is a Hot post
I’ve been trying to do the second one for the past hour or so but my dumb ass can’t figure out how exactly to do it. Is there a tutorial or something I can follow?
Just updated to 0.0.38 (from 0.0.34 I think) and it is amazing. The addition of comment navigation buttons and the abbility to go back to home page by swiping right are just so pleasant. Thanks devs, with how great this app is developing I don’t think I would need to try the incoming reddit apps.
I started fasting because I’m super fat. Look, proof! Learning alot about how to get healthy and I thought I’d share my experience here. I’d love other peeps to share their experience, knowledge, and general good vibes … looking forward to meeting you all!
All of these are different servers which are federated, meaning people from each of the servers can interact with and view posts and users on other servers. Each server is run by independent admins. This way, if the admins of one server get greedy or turn into a-holes, you can easily switch over to a different server. Lemmy is a decentralised network so no one big corporate decision can fuck everyone over.
Edit: to clarify, I know that many short hair styles don’t have a part at all. Mostly talking about people with hair long enough to have one. I find it interesting that many studies conclude that beauty is tightly correlated with how symmetrical someone’s face is. However, many haircuts and hair styles are asymmetrical,...
I've been switching back and forth between Lemmy IzzyOnDroid version 0.0.33 and Liftoff for the past few days. I really wanna update to the newest Jerboa version but I'm worried things will go wrong and I'll have to go through the whole process with the IzzyOnDroid version again. Have the issues been fixed yet?
How to jump to context
Is there a way to jump to the post where a reply (seen in notifications) or comment (seen in profile) was made?

Does it matter which Lemmy I'm in?
I’m in Lemmy.world, but I’ve seen there are others. Do I have to switch in between them (if so, how?) or is it fine the way I have it?...
What does the Hot sorting actually mean?

Is there a way to have two versions of the same app installed at once?
I’m not the most tech savvy person and don’t really know most of the official terms but I’ll try my best to explain my question....

Lemmy is confusing and poorly limited. How does Lemmy work? Why are there so many Lemmy clones? Do I have to sign up for each of them? Does my post show on each of them?

If beauty is tightly associated with facial symmetry, then why doesn’t everyone have their hair part down the middle?
