i wish strace had a pcap-like format the way tcpdump does

mlen,

@b0rk bpftrace supports JSON output, but I'm not sure if that helps in your case: the printf-ed values are just strings anyway.

i do love the 1990s disposable camera snapshot aesthetic but i couldn't afford the disposable cameras then, and can't fathom spending the money on the development now.

but good ol' digicams can really deliver because of their lower resolution and cheap/vintage/miniaturized optics.

mlen,

@amy as someone who hand-develops at home, I can say that it greatly reduces the cost and is fun, provided that you can afford spending your time on it.

BW process under $1 per roll is achievable (assuming that the developer won't go bad, which it just did, sigh), $2.50 per roll of C41 too.

But then you'd need to scan all of it, so digital feels easier /shrug

mlen,

@amy hope you'll enjoy it!

Also, what do you mean by calculating? The time adjustment as the chemistry becomes exhausted?

That is totally avoidable with XTOL/ADOX XT-3 and Ilford Rapid Fixer. All three can be replenished with the stock solution, so the processing times are always the same. All math needed to replenish is a constant volume of stock solution multiplied by the number of rolls that were processed

mlen,

@amy I happily ignore all of that and 1) try to keep the temperature as close to 20°C as I can, 2) take times from https://www.digitaltruth.com/devchart.php and it works just fine. IDK, maybe my developer and film of choice is very forgiving.

Here's a sample of HP5+ pushed to 1600 for that extra grainy look.

The times always stay the same, because I keep the chemicals "at full strength" by replenishing both the fixer and the developer with the stock solution.

summer colds are both new and unfair. and weird. we don’t have any typical cold symptoms, but super tired, mild fever, headache, dry mouth/throat, wheezing (me) dry eyes (thomas).

and p sure it’s not covid. we did RAT as well as the home pseudo-PCR kit (lucira).

i hate how everything is weird now

mlen,

@amy can it be a hay fever? I had my nose clogged for three weeks thanks to the pollen, but now it's already over

mlen,

@amy yes, I know it is allergies, but i didn't know that it can't cause fever

mlen,

@amy I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you… I'm following you for your photography, which is pretty cool

Today was the first time I played with some Polaroid BW film. I quite like the results and it develops much quicker than the color one too.
