Looks like most of these have the majority of their followers on their own instance. Might be interesting to see who is most popular on instances other than their own.

@stefan Fair enough, it was just a suggestion, I have no good ideas on how to implement it.

murph,
@murph@gardenstate.social avatar

@stefan That's kinda the idea. I was just thinking out loud though, not looking to make more work for you. (Or me)

@stefan Question for you..... I know there is "No spam" in the server rules. That doesn't preclude a local business from creating an account? I'd assume that you'd only ban if they misbehave. Of course, if they don't act like a decent community member, they're not going to have a good time regardless. Thoughts?

@stefan How are you making out with this spam wave? Accounts? Bandwidth? Any issues? Anything we can help with?

Fantastic game convention coming up this month in Morristown, NJ! #cardgames, #boardgames, #TTRPG, #LARP, #Wargames, and more!

It’s a great local convention for all sorts of gaming, they’re on the rebuild post-covid, but it’s always been a great event, lots of fun. Give it a shot! February 22-25th. #NJ #NewJersey #games #gameconvention

I'd love to know which computer from the 1980s was in hindsight the most future proof or capable. Not necessarily the most powerful but just kind of had the best throughput for its architecture or had the cleanest design. I think a lot of people would say the c64 or the IBM PC but it'd be hilarious if it was the sega master system or something

murph,
@murph@gardenstate.social avatar

@GabeMoralesVR @upmultimedia its only vulnerability was, of course, Commodore.

@stefan it will, as soon as i get all the usb-c cables that i need

@stefan I stopped by a store in Morristown called "Just Jersey" and asked them to hang a few of the flyers. Seemed like the perfect place. We'll see if anyone turns up.

If anyone out there might be interested in trying a there is one coming up this Sunday, the 3rd. It's a lot of fun for two (or more) people to see some of , follow a rule set and directions, and most importantly, support a great , Toys-for-Tots.

Has anyone out there ever tried a road rally? Distance-based, not time, so no racing, all held on public roads. It's a lot of fun, and benefits Toys-for-Tots.

There are a very specific set of rules. (I'll work on finding a link)
Then you get the route instructions, which detail where you need to go. They can include tricks and traps to make it challenging. Your goal is to do everything exactly, to get your mileage to be precisely what it should be. Deviations from the route incur points. The team with the fewest points wins.

murph,
@murph@gardenstate.social avatar

@Dylan @dan @Mark I found the rules online:

https://www.mcnj.org/pdf_files/MCNJGenerals501a.pdf

You don't get the route instructions until the day of, to stop people from getting an unfair advantage.

Come on out, it'll be fun. When I first started, I didn't know what to expect either. You learn as you go! They make it tricky, but don't try to get you lost, just to make you go the long (or short) way around.

murph,
@murph@gardenstate.social avatar

@Dylan @dan In this one, there's no penalty for arriving early, because there's no time component. However, fast is not always accurate, so if you miss something, and your mileage is off, you'll get dinged for that.

murph,
@murph@gardenstate.social avatar

@Dylan @dan @Mark

You don't need to memorize, just make notes on the route inst. when you go over it beforehand.

murph,
@murph@gardenstate.social avatar

@Dylan @dan @Mark Fantastic! It'll be nice to meet in person.
