    @thor Yes AI can make music, but so what. It just means there will be infinite music available that nobody wants to listen too.

    Pop music will die a bland existence of making no money. And artists that people like and seek out will continue as if nothing happened.

    @thor we live in a bubble where music has become commoditized. And we think that's normal. It's not. Music is art. AI sounds are a commodity. Suitable for hold music, elevators, advertisements, and maybe raves.

    @thor this is true. But this is a job that didn't exist previously, and won't exist in the future. That happens to many things over time. Music and the people creating it and listening to it will be eternal. But the business model will change.

    @thor I just had a thought relating to this issue. There are artists like Daft Punk or Goyte that make music almost exclusively out of samples from other music. This is essentially what AI does. But the reason we don't ridicule them as just copying other artists is because they are using it in creative ways that are unique to their artistic vision.

    I predict that AI music tools with be another VST plugin in the music producers tool box.

    My capacity and desire to talk to people is about 40-50 hours a week. I'm currently at 5 hours a week, which is way too little.

    Got three tracks I’m pretty much happy with. 4 to go… doing the last stages of mixing analogue is fantastic but it’s also nice to go back digi for some extra touches.

    I always feel I can see the automation when I listen to my ITB mixes but when done by hand there’s an additional depth and sensitivity (or lack in of) in the movements.

    God knows what anyone will make of it, I seem to have found the space in between Lee Sctach Perry, Portishead and Gabriel era Genesis.

    At least I like it.

    @mxtthxw back in the day at audio college when I actually had analogue gear to play with the way I did it was mix everything on the big console, and then bounce down to multi-track in protools to do some editing / automation / final touches. I am not a believer in analog summing.

    Just saw a sponsor read in a YouTube video for this thing called Storyblocks. It's an AI took to create bullshit social media content. Instead of actually sharing your knowledge and putting in effort to provide people with some insight, just ask an AI to do it. And it will provide a fake voice over, repeating whatever nonsense it scraped from wikipedia, over a background of stock footage. Worst product ever. This shit need to be banned.

    Some songs get absolutely bit crushed by audio compression algorithms. They were mastered for vinyl and the stereo mixing confuses them.

    @thor stereo mixing back in the 60's was a very different. There was no spread in the drum kit. They would typically pan according to how they stand on stage. You would sometimes get extremes like drums in the right, bass on the left, etc.

    @thor if your taking it every week then something is seriously wrong. You should be taking it for 3-4 while needed for some particular ailment, then STOP. The median about of paracetamol per month should be zero.

    I heard of a Norwegian woman who converted to catholicism. We're a lutheran country. But our church is so liberal that we permit gay marriage here. It's understandable to pick catholicism if you wanna go more hardcore. But then again, you might also go orthodox. That's closer to the original church. Catholicism itself is radical compared to orthodoxy.

    @mxtthxw I deal with shipping a lot at work. I have learnt that it is a black box. Nothing you request will ever be adhered too. All those systems for requesting pickup times of drop off instructions are useless. The guy with the van will do whatever the fuck he wants. And if there is any kind of disruption (like roadworks for example) they won't think, they won't plan. They'll just mark it undeliverable and ship it back to sender. It's a machine. They don't think.
