I've finished the overlays for the alternate history Star Wars campaign I hope to run next year, The Rebellion Strikes Back. I was going for a vintage feel, as it's an alternate Episode V campaign, and I think I mostly got it by going with the Kenner action figure card feel.

I have a pet peeve, and it's that a lot of tactical games aren't very good about teaching GMs how to be tactical and how to think tactically as monsters about to face a party of PCs.

1 DM vs a party of 5 PCs working together tactically will never be a fair fight, as 5 brains are better than 1. And that's fine, it should always swing for the PCs anyway.

Rules can be clear. Rules can be complete. But if the game doesn't teach how it's meant to be played, it is not a very good game.

@Tim_Eagon yeah. It's a heavy amount of bandwidth for me lately. Too much. Especially at high levels. My monsters are not very bright. Just dumb brutes.

@Alphastream it is. 4e's use of terrain and its big set pieces was definitely a different big idea thing.

But It's also decision paralysis, counting squares, long drawn out rounds, and slogs that got longer the more powerful the players got. If they can square that circle, kudos to them.

I was scrolling through my follows on twitter from the early days to today, and looking to see if they are still active. A lot aren't. A lot I had forgotten about. I actually got a little nostalgic about the early days of ttrpg twitter. Those were fun days.

I am planning to run a Star Wars game online and stream it. It would use a slightly modified version of the d6 system found in WEG's Introductory Adventure Game beginner's box (streamlined combo of 1e and 2e). 'm currently preparing assets and adventures for it.

My plan is to make it episodic, tell the story and be done. Not an open ended campaign, but rather very focused with an ending. I don't want it to be too long.
