Received our first AI-generated security vulnerability report at the museum today. Wasted about an hour’s worth of staff time double checking it wasn’t a real concern before filing it in the circular bin.

We’re just a museum with a website, and the stupid fucking LLMs are wasting our time with this shit. I imagine the open source maintainers are drowning in this shit.

Never before has a technology wasted so many people’s time so utterly. Fuck the grifters trying to sell this as “AI”.

Okay, now I'm a bit sad that I won't be at #37C3, and it's because of this talk:

Presenter #TimoLongin found an exploit in SMTP, notified commercial vendors GMX, Microsoft & Cisco in July, then published a blog post in the week before Christmas that describes how the attack works. Free software maintainers and admins were not warned in advance and had to rush to build workarounds.

Would've loved to talk to him about his idea of "responsible disclosure".

Hey Fediverse, I want to learn more about HDD recovery on HDDs which have hardware faults. Do you have any clicking and/or non working HDDs around, which you are willing to offer?
Keep in mind: I am not a recovery expert and i don't have a lab, therefore the data on their is probably lost. But i want to learn and practice more on Head Swaps and Platter Swaps.

Habt ihr Tipps für freie Linux-Software zum Reverse-Engineeren von Daten? Ich hab hier nen lowleveligen Blob Zeug mit ein paar Ideen, was es sein könnte, aber wenig Nerv, ihn durch verschiedene Parser zu schicken. Optimal wäre ein Tool, das zig Formate (er)kennt, aber alternativ nehm ich auch nen umfangreich ausgestatteten Hex-Editor, in den ich schnell eigene Decoder reinhacken kann, oder zumindest geratene Bedeutungen für einzelne Bits notieren & anwenden könnte. Decompiler brauch ich nicht.
