Sent some of Dad’s ashes (about a teaspoon) to the sea at the local beach on his deathiversary, like I promised myself I would. Will bury some more in the garden later.
Now treating myself to a breakfast at yet another local cafe.

Buried some of Mum’s ashes in the back garden of the new place, at about the time she died two years ago.
A magpie started singing as I covered them up. She would have liked that, I think.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I STARTED SMELLING THAT SMELL AND CHECKED AND THERE WAS A DEAD RAT UNDER MY BED UGGGHHH
God knows when it got there but a) I only just started smelling That Smell an hour back (and I crashed for a couple of hours this afternoon) and b) I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there yesterday because I hauled the old suitcase out from under the other side of the bed to take to the op shop and I didn’t spot anything.
But ugggghhhhhh.

Thanks for all the congratulations on the unit acquisition yesterday. I’m still settling into believing it’s real, especially after two let-downs.
It’s going to be strange not obsessively checking the real estate sites and doing the rounds of the OFIs every Saturday.
Now to continue with Operation Sort Shit and decide what to take and what to dispose of.

Got the word from the insurance company before - Felicia is a write-off.
Body looked fine so they must have fucked the engine 😭.
Anyway already talked to my mechanic (who also sells second hand cars, and actually sold me Felicia) and he has another car ready to go, so I’ll be having a look tomorrow.
But my poor car…

Good news - my car’s been found!
Just gotta wait for all the forensic things to be done and it’s all mine. Oh and get new plates because they were stolen.
Still, phew. I was sure it was in bits or burnt out.

Cross fingers for me everyone - I just put an offer in on the unit I want to buy.
I was going to do it tomorrow after my aunt and I had another look, but I went to another OFI at the last minute and a woman with a family was very keen, so I got my offer in. Hopefully the fact that my offer is unconditional (inspection done, finance sorted) will give me the edge!

Ha last client refused service due to a mix-up so I get paid for 2½ hours of doing bugger all. I’m staying in my work pants until 3 just in case but I don’t think they’ll send me on another job if they didn’t call me within the first half hour.
In other news the first week has gone well and the people at the fill in job I had yesterday have specifically requested me as a regular. primp primp

Got the news - I got the job!
Funny thing was, they were trying to call me all week but they thought I wasn’t answering until they got through and found that they were calling the wrong number - it had somehow been entered wrong, so just as well I sent my resume through to the original person! Just a few extra bits of paperwork and the induction next Thursday and then we’ll see when I actually start (probably week after).

Interview done - went as well as it could have done, once I had to stop because my voice shook but she reassured me and I took a deep breath and went on.
A lot of the questions I’d prepared she didn’t ask and a couple she asked I hadn’t anticipated, but I got through them just fine and she could see how I’d think on the fly and (I hope) knew my stuff.
She said I’d probably hear by the end of the day, so fingers crossed!

So the final offer came through for the house and I’ve accepted.
Let’s just say it was more than the ‘I’ll be jumping around hosing champagne if I get this’ amount. And off market to boot so no marketing fees.

Oooh. First prospective buyer who came through today is very keen and is coming back with his wife Saturday afternoon. AND the house they’re renting is being sold so he needs to find a place fast.

Oh Gawd Cennalink strikes again. Just got a text to day that I have an appointment with a DES agency tomorrow for an interview re: getting work.
Fortunately I’m able to go and quite willing to discuss strategies so I can hit the ground running when I am fit to start working, but isn’t it fucking typical?

IRL cake day today! Will wander down to the little vegan cafe that does a mean three ‘cheese’ toastie for brunch, then my aunt and cousin are coming down to take me out to dinner because the restaurant they liked last time is only open in the evening Sunday.
