Scooted along the Yarra from Docklands to Swan St bridge and back then around the marina/New Quay and back home. Did some fancy maneuvering. That was fun. Lots of people out enjoying each other’s company.
That sounds really nice. I sometimes think it would be good to live inner city and be able to do things like that. But I love pets and gardening too much.
Going on radio again tomorrow and I found out today that the 3/3a tram doesn’t go through St Kilda any more. So now I have to go to Malvern 😭 to catch a tram.
Though tomorrow afterwards my sister is having her birthday dinner at a KBBQ place (which I’m pumped for but also jealous because I wanted to do KBBQ for my dinner last year but mum didn’t want to do that) so mum suggested that she can drive me to St Kilda. So whoo!

It’s been glorious going out in the city. If I wasn’t trying to get my sleep pattern back in order and also not a solo brown woman I would’ve stayed out walking for hours.
e: also going into the city feels so much more enjoyable atm after the insanity of Singapore. So much space! …I’m sure I’ll go back to feeling meh about it in two weeks time

I just got an email from Catch Mobile apologising for the network outage. I guess that mean they use Optus. I honestly didn’t notice anything wrong and had no idea I’d been affected.
I got approval from work to travel home during Christmas / NYs and work remotely so i’m going homeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee to family. Best part is it’s a surprise so i’ll land home and surprise mfer my parents! So excited wooohoo!
Also hope that my organs are safe cuz im going via Scoot. An other airline was charging $1000 more so fk that 🤞
Hooray!!! It will feel great reuniting with family and especially as a surprise - and provide a nice opportunity to take stock of where you’re at in life abroad :)

Great movie and one of my fave wwii movies , I got that new 4k th other week 👍 So finding this book, which I had never seen before in a shop was a real bonus.
Ah dang it. Minipeelers want to see the FNAF movie but it’s rated M. Knowing them (they love jump scares and horror themes) they could handle it, but they aren’t legally allowed to so they are more than a little upset about it!
So I can take a 10 and 12 yo to see an M movie as long as I’m there to watch it with them? It would be cool if I don’t have to pretend they’re 15. Miniest would fail, although she said she’s suffering from a condition that makes her short 😂🤦🏻♀️
Elder has most of the books I think. Loves them. It’s about the only thing he’s read lately that isn’t about military history specialising in the Great Wars.
My nearly 10yo went with his Dad. He loves the games, and has no trouble separating fiction from real life. He loved it! I will admit to a moment of questioning my decision, but you know your kids best, and you know if they’ll cope with a more mature film.
They’re both familiar with the games and the Elder loves the books. The separating reality from fiction is an important factor isn’t it. I’ve always been at pains to point out the difference, whether it’s a scene from a movie or a picture of an influencer lol
It’s a skill that not all kids have, that’s for sure! I will admit I didn’t see the movie with them, but my son’s biggest concern wasn’t any violence or bodily harm, it was that they didn’t follow the story that he knows to the letter.
It was my partner’s birthday yesterday and I made him a playlist called songs that convey how I feel about you.
He listens to one song on the playlist and tells me it was a pretty solid playlist. However, regarding the two heartfelt Taylor Swift songs on the hour-long playlist, he tells me I should switch them out for insert other songs that do not convey the same meaning as the Taylor Swift songs at all because they were “better”. He didn’t listen to the songs.
Maybe he’s just not a lyrics person, though I’d think the title would convey that the lyrics are important. It sucks that I’ll have to explain that and also that we are probably not on the same wavelength. I’m debating ending it.
I think that’s a little extreme in the reaction department. Maybe just talk to him about how you feel instead of making such a big decision without communicating first?
He’s not a mind reader, and maybe he just doesn’t like Taylor Swift?
Mr Seagoon is a bit of a muso himself and it took me a while for me to understand that he enjoys all kinds of music and the different emotions it can evoke. It’s art. So when he plays a song for me often it’s sharing the art, it’s not telling me a message. I’ve had to learn to not be literal.
Play Song Pong with him! Make a new playlist, get some nice booze, and you take turns adding your fav songs to the playlist and listen to them, it’s super fun and you’ll learn a lot about each others music preferences. Back when my partner and I were just FWB, he introduced me to the game and we introduced each other to so much new and cool music we hadn’t heard before.
I’m just gonna point out the playlist you made was called ‘songs that convey how I feel about you’… so yeah. Also the reception is kinda graceless.
You mentioned things are still pretty early on though. It might be that he’s uncomfortable with the romantic messages, trying to softpedal that by changing the songs, and you guys aren’t on the same wavelength. Which sucks.
It’s your choice what to do and depends on whether this is a pattern of behaviour/there’s a consistent one sided dynamic but I’m sure there’s a guy out there that would be over the moon to get a mixtape.
You’re going to break up over a playlist? Look I hope this doesn’t come across as harsh but it does strike me as an over reaction. Not everybody is a Taylor Swift fan. I personally don’t care for her and I don’t think she can sing particularly well.
It’s possible you have different love languages and he can’t necessarily compute your gesture. But if you say, made him a lavishly difficult cake he might love it.
Don’t write it off completely… I’m not a lyrics person at all. For me it’s about the feel and emotion in the music with the vocal - but not necessarily the lyrics, you know…
There’s a thing called frisson (I think), which is that rush of emotion you get when listening to a song, look at a piece of art, read a passage that you really understand etc. Example for me is the guitar riff kick in my previously mentioned Fix You by Coldplay… The lyrics are ok I guess, but that guitar at 2:35 just hits so hard every time I hear it…
