Nope, four years later they still hate me and don't want to unlock my account.

Too bad, maybe I would have PAID come to the next SymfonyLive.

Once again, a unit test and a hell lot of debugging time helped me realise that I long ago had a function that should have been broken but wasn't for strange reasons.

Still, in a Promise, I used "return resolveFunc" instead of calling "resolveFunc()".

My bad, shit happens

pierstoval,
@pierstoval@mastodon.social avatar

To be clear, my final code is this diff:

return new Promise((resolve) => {
this._callback(data, operation, requestParameters);

  • return resolve;
  • resolve();
    });

That's stupid, I know.

I even don't have any idea why I couldn't see that before. Everything worked super well, but it's only when unit-testing this particular piece of code that I realized the promise actually takes super long time, therefore is never resolved ("never resolved" should have given me a hint, by the way)

(No blame, I wrote this code years ago)

Instead, I'm gonna say "I'm continuing the production of the fluid".

Look at the example video on the Github page, it's astonishing the amount of time and energy an adblocker can save:

https://hachyderm.io/@combatwombat/112474271117486390

(of course adblockers can also increase your privacy and can also tell surveillance-capitalism to get the fuck out of our life)

I watch the crossmark-former-bird-site like once or twice a week, only because I have a few mutuals there left.

And when I do, I usually scroll one or two pages-long to taste the evolution of this fascist-compliant website.

It was already completely buggy because I use Firefox and some ad-blockers, but now videos and polls don't even show.

Same with Fb: some posts are totally invisible, videos bug. Youtube is slow.

These assholes want their damn tracking so much they exploded their website.

ArnaudStrill,
@ArnaudStrill@mastodon.top avatar

@pierstoval
Yeah, I usually watch YT on my iPhone via safari, which is the only browser allowing you to use an ad-blocker at the time, and because i'm not using the app or chrome I have a "BUFFERING" time of 5 ~15 sec before each video, anyways, that's the time I'm not watching ads so, I don't mind.
The thing is that if it was a real technical limitation due to the browser, then why can I see the vidรฉos launching instantly on the homepage ? ๐Ÿ˜…

pierstoval,
@pierstoval@mastodon.social avatar

@ArnaudStrill That's a known thing: Youtube enforced Firefox users to have a longer buffering time than anyone else, for no real reason.

Alors, les chiffres :

Maintenant, mรชme chose, mais plus haut :

Salaire net : 10000
Aprรจs impรดt : 7425 โ‚ฌ
Taux d'impรดts au global : 25,75%

Salaire brut : 12527

pierstoval,
@pierstoval@mastodon.social avatar

Mรชme si le planning change en cours de route, je m'en tape, je voudrais savoir mรชme si c'est pas 100% sรปr.

Une idรฉe ?

The strangest thing about my autistic traits is that I started flapping again.

I'm not usually a "flapper", but it sometimes happened in situations of both mental and body stress (the most common one is just after a shower when it's cold, the second being when I'm extra-excited about some news I just received).

But these days, I flap kinda randomly.

Gotta investigate, that's curious.

I feel like we're a niche type of people. The caring ones.

We care about privacy, equity, peace, respect, sharing, community, openness, freedom, ecology.

We're not enough, compared to the global industrial and economical machine.

For one person claiming privacy is important, Google tracks billions.
For one person going vegan, billions of cows are still slaughtered.
For one person putting a sweater instead of heat system, well, Exxon and Total.

The older I get, the more I feel the uselessness

Sometimes I feel like the "async/await" systems in most languages are just here for the "Promise.all(...)" kind of use-case.

For all the rest, it mostly still looks like procedural code with object-oriented procedural calls.

I love the fact that for a dynamic web app you could just use PHP with a framework, which ecosystem is built with PHP and C.

And for mobile apps, the ecosystem is built with Javascript, Java, Kotlin, sometimes Ruby, but also C and C++.
