I’ve been using Mullvad for the past few months. Have not had many issues with it aside from the 5 device limit and the removal of port forwarding. I’m currently looking at Private Internet Access as a potential replacement. It looks like it offers 10 device limit and port forwarding included with the price....
Also, it doesn’t seem to be much more expensive than something like ExpressVPN, though that is pretty expensive at about $13 USD monthly. Way cheaper to buy yearly though. In comparison, Mullvad is a flat 5 Euro (about $5.20 - $5.40) per month. Other VPNs seem to be about $10-$13 per month.
I have not tried them, but always stayed away from them due to aggressive marketing that really put me off. there was a good year or two where I was bombarded with NordVPN ads and sponsors, and still get the occasional advert about them. It may be worth trying though, I have colleagues that use it.
Surfshark offered a similar deal that I bought a few years back. At the time it worked just fine for me, but they don’t offer port forwarding (at least they did not at the time I was using them), and they don’t have a Linux GUI.
for Spotify, i can just download a Spotify premium APK. i know i can't do anything for tidal, as HiFi and HiFi+ are server side. anything for Deezer or qobuz? basically I'm just looking for HiFi audio
I think free-mp3-download(dot)net lets you download music from Deezer (correct me if I'm wrong) at .mp3(128 or 320kbps) and .flac. I don't think there's an app though. I just download my music from this site and play it using Metro music player.
Whenever thepiratebay goes down, it is a disaster for me to find anything online. The megathread is next to useless, taking me to all these crazy sites that don't have a torrent option. Instead, they have individual episode downloads of 600 episode TV series. And to access each individual episode, I have to click on a mirror...
I've always used Rufus to download Windows ISOs. It should let you download the latest major Win 11 release. I just used it last week in fact to make a quick bootable USB at work to reimage a device with 11 on it.
I don't think Microsoft cares since they shouldn't be making a lot of money from retail keys anyway. A majority of users get an activation key when they purchase their computer. And businesses use volume licensing. A small minority of people who pirate an activation key is not a lot of money lost in the big picture.
Also with the amount of telemetry going on in Win 11, the data they collect more than makes up for the slight loss in revenue.
Man I know, I tried linux about 3-4 months ago and it is getting so much better. If I wasn't on an nvidia card I would probably be running fedora full time.
Glad you didn't seem to run into any big issues. The biggest one for me was an FPS issue where some games would get locked into running at around 45 fps. It really messed up the experience playing competitive shooters like Overwatch.
I have tried vertical tabs but I could never stick with them. For me it was a mix of muscle memory (moving mouse UP to get to tabs), and taking up too much screen real estate (especially on my small 13 inch work laptop).
You're not supposed to post NSFW content, please delete this or I'm reporting you, my dad is THE Bill Gates of Microsoft Corporation and he WILL BAN your Minecraft account for this treacherous behavior. You've been warned.
I'm using Win 11 at my place of work and this is definitely a strong point for me. Terminal is so much nicer than CMD. And I literally use powertoys for nothing more than the Win+Space app search because of muscle memory built from using MacOS.
VPN Recommendations?

Why is thepiratebay not in the megathread, despite being so much better?

How's Windows 11 faring the software of the seven seas?
I tried Win11 about 3 months after the initial release. That was a mistake....
