@binbows The thing is, and I talked to my mother about this. If someone you cares about still hurts you it does not lessen the hurt just because they are not evil. This was in discussion regarding my father vs my stepdad in particular. It applies here though, if someone has done something wrong to you no matter the reason it still hurts. An example she brought up was that when you get bitten by a snake you don't ask "Why did it bite me?"

Well, you've obviously got to write them down somewhere; you could use a piece of paper, but remember all that storage space we saved by moving our data into π? Why don't we store our file locations there!?! Even better, the location of our files in π is metadata and as we all know metadata is becoming more and more important in everything we do. Doesn't it feel great to have generated so much metadata? Why waste time with old fashioned data when you can just deal with metadata, and lots of it!

i love how the behavior for blocked users is that if you see a quote post of a blocked user it just removes the quote part and keeps the text of the post this is really great and does not lead to some whack ass posts from this account federating to my other account nuh uh. this example is objectively funny though because it gives you the sense of eerieness because it's CLEAR that this was in response to something lmao

I really mean this btw, because if you are not connected to things like relays you are at a bit of a disadvantage in terms of federation. Not saying that you have to but the relays do help somewhat. The instances that do not support relays (or do not have the configured) are much more tied to pub/subs for various accounts. Genuinely it feels like the more pub/subs I have with a specific server the closer in federation it is simply because you see a lot more of their posts and almost everything is outbound to your inbound (vice versa). You don't notice this sort of thing on smaller instances. I ran into an issue yesterday of like "Oh right, this instance does not have pub/subs with most of my friends" so I am going to be the first one on there to establish the link between the servers.

so like this really is noticeable when it comes to private posts... because on tf.s because it's been around a bit longer and has a lot of existing federation connections I can basically expect that when I follow someone I can fetch their follower only posts once I follow. This got to me yesterday when I established the first pub/sub for a mutuals' instance on a smaller instance and I could not fetch those messages because they were not sent to the server

@ari i unironically note the usage of public block bots on instances as part of the reason to fediblock. i have only seen them used for targeted harassment of users.
