Has there been any indication that reddit may pay creators and moderators, like youtube and meta and other platforms do? or are they just expecting to pocket all the cash?
And the details would never work. Most submissions are just links to other sites, or reposts. There's no way to differentiate actual quality content or OC. For mods, anyone can create a sub to become a mod, or appear busy by doing random nonproductive things.
That works out to 84 full time mods (40 hours weeks). I don't believe that. Can you imagine a staff of 84 modding the whole entire site? And set up a weekend shift and that number goes down.
Everyone says it doesn't matter which instance you use, that "all" should be all or something. Also still doesn't make much sense to see 2 day old posts in "hot" if there's any engagement at all.
The problem is he defined government as the problem. There's no discussion about what good government practice is because, according to Reaganomics, all government is bad by definition.
Short term they need to work on the "all front page". It doesn't seem to give me popular posts from all instances, it's full of 2 to 3 to 4 day old posts that were never very popular. I have to manually go around (like to this community) to find content.
It's not an instance problem, it's a Lemmy sorting/loading/ranking problem. It doesn't seem to show very well popular posts from other instances like beehaw or lemmy.ml.
Microsoft and Activision have indicated that they may abandon their proposed $68.7 billion merger if federal courts grant FTC a preliminary injunction.
Important to note, Muslims consider dogs unclean and generally don't like them. You're not supposed to have one unless it's a work dog, they're not the social phenomenon they are in the west. So you can see this seeping out.
This place has roughly 3,000 people and was intended to be an entire replacement for DaystromInstitute and StarTrek as they were going dark indefinitely. Well, within 4 days the moderators have walked back those statements and opened both subreddits up. I see no incentive for people to come to this website now and while a few...
I think it's pretty complicated. They need to work on the default "home" page so that it's populated and turns over. As it is now I'm seeing posts 2 to 3 to 4 days old, from small instances. Default really just needs to be the popular posts from the whole thing.
I picked lemmy.ca which seemed like a middle of the pack one, which was advised. But they said it didn't matter because you can see content from all. Can see it and seeing it by default seems to be different because now I have to track it down or something. This is the confusing part. Just give me a default front page. Then I can edit my own subscriptions as I learn.
For me personally, so far it's mostly neat. I love the simplicity of the webpage. But there are also some bugs here and there that are a bit annoying, though this is a community effort so it's justified. Still better than New [site which shall not be named]. Some notable bugs for me include the fact that the vote counters jumps...

In my opinion, there are two big things holding Lemmy back right now:...
