Does anybody know where I can get an affordable TeamTalk server for my own use? Mine kind of died like a lot of months ago and now I have no good spots to host movie night. I don’t want to have to sell a kidney to pay for it, but I am willing to pay a reasonable amount of money.
Got this from a message I just saw come into one of my email lists. Since when could TweeseCake handle podcasts? That is, of course, assuming the person who sent the message isn’t totally confused.
just thought of a new challenge. @app@TheQuinbox@FluidEscence
replace default windows shell with cake
have a desktop folder buffer always open
use key-op to augment your keyboard friendly experience
use bnt instead of windows task manager
lxde for windows is born
Curious, does anyone happen to have an old math flash installer or CD from before 2005? It appears older versions of some APH software used WAV files that were ACM compressed, and I would like to have these files with their proper timestamps for the Unofficial APH sound library that I put together.
Since one of you got me started with the predictive text game, let’s see what kind of breaking news headlines we can come up with in a similar fashion. Type in the words, breaking news, and then let your phone do the rest. I’ll start.
Breaking news, this guy needs help with his mental state as he has no clue how to handle this stuff
So when did Firefox start majorly sucking? This is not cool. This is the third time in the past two weeks that I've had it just stop sending half of all accessibility events to my screen reader for absolutely no reason. Text fields don't read and tabbing only reads when NVDA's focus/browse mode state changes. Only way to fix it seems to be to hard exit the browser like 15 times and then maybe it'll work eventually possibly at some point. It's also been really, really slow. Like, when I open a firefox instance, type something in the address bar, and press enter, I get chrome://browser/content/blanktab.html for at least 10 seconds until the page finally loads. Visiting other links and such in the same tab after that is plenty responsive, it seems to be when a new tab is opened. I hate how chromified everything is now, but if Firefox keeps doing this, I may jump ship.
I was one of possibly a few random people who were disappointed to find the Remote Synthesizer not included on the BrailleNote Apex. I understand why it was removed, however a hardware speech synthesizer is a useful thing to have around, especially if you don't have a working sound card or a Braille display.
Mr. computer is back up and running. Somebody says running a disc checker would be a good idea. My question is where the heck am I going to find a disc checker?
@evilcookies98 GO INTO YOUR COMMAND PROMPT, AS AN ADMINISTRATOS. press windows r, type "cmd" and pres control+shift+enter to open it as admin. then simply type: dskchk
after that it may be a good idea to run the system file checker to make sure your windows components aren't busted just type:
sfc /scannow
@evilcookies98 good. sometimes windows is writing to the regestry when the power goes out and causes lite corruption, but the chance of harddrive damage now is less than it would have been even 10 years ago.
Have been trying to install Debian on a 2012 Mac Mini, which is otherwise stuck on Catalina and not especially useful as a Mac. Whether I boot the net installer or the DVD, I can't seem to get the speech synthesis option to work. As soon as I select it, the screen goes black and the installer never returns. Seems to happen whether I have a USB soundcard connected or not. I'll probably try connecting a Braille display and see if it gets autodetected, but this is not a great start.
@simon not gonna happen with the default netinstall I'm afraid. you'll need to use the non-free installer, as even if you get past the first steps the installer has no driver for either the ethernet or wifi. arch or ubuntu should work better
SOS! I think the power blinking last night did something to Windows. It's throwing an error from what little bit I can get envision to read and wants me to go into recovery, which I can't read.
@evilcookies98 press coNTrol+windows+enter on that screen and see if narrator pops up, if not reboot with all USB devices disconnected to make absolutely sure sound is routing to your supported, builtin soundcard
And today, in WTF school technology. The laptops they gave seniors at the beginning of this semester are running Windows 11, have 4 GB of RAM, a 64 GB SSD, and a 4-core seventh gen Intel I5 from 2017 or so running at 1.00 GHZ. But it gets worse! One of the restrictions they put on the new Windows images is... you can't view your battery! It's just, completely fucking gone from the system tray. And, you don't even get notified if it's running low! Suffice it to say this has pissed me off so greatly that I'm now figuring out how the Windows battery API works.
@TheQuinbox I can help. step one: slowly slide the laptop towards the nearest availible opened window. 2. allow it to... accidentally slip from your fingers... wait' that's the alternate universe where there's sno such thing as destruction of property chharges. never mind.
okay, do any reaper on mac and KK users have any fix for reaper spontaniously deciding to rescan all myy KK content randomly sometimes? this issue just put a cork in my productivity for a while while I wait for it to scan. second question, possibly related? I heard back in 2021/22 to run all plugins in rosetta, as well as native access and your daw, as the plugin companies hadn't ported anything to mx cpus yet. what is the state of that now? should I just wipe and reinstall all my plugins in arm mode? or is there some easy transition?
oh... no... apparently H and R block now have an a... A.I tax assistant! shutters and hides in a corner. I can smell the possible lawsuits (and the sweat rolling off their legal team) from ... well... 730 or so miles away, considering their headquarters is in missouri. seems like the federal government almost shouldn't even allow this level of generative enshittification. I hope they're using some super secret sauce CIA language model or something, since because of the halusination rate of most current publically availible models it doesn't seem very... safe. And no, I'm not afraid of AI; I use it in several contexts but do you really want it helping you with your taxes?... right... now... when the tech is still relatively new and you are... you know... a gigantic CpA as a webapp service? *points to wamo driverless cars running over fire hoses, lawyers using chat gpt to earn themselves a pissed off judge and a contemp charge, (gpt cited elements of criminal case laws that didn't exist, wasting hours of some poor court clerk's time) and the recent study suggesting that code written with AI damages the quality of the whole codebase you're working on over time, (with today's AI this seems like common sense given the other two, and I'm not even a programmer!) have fun, H and R block.
