I watched episode one of Dark Matter on Apple TV+, and my reaction was, I’ve already seen this a zillion times before. It’s like a mashup of Face/Off and Counterpart. I’d rather watch the two seasons of Counterpart again, to explore things like this with much greater subtlety.

Counterpart was so great. It's not streaming anywhere these days, is it?

I had been waiting until July to start Dark Matter, since I wouldn't be able to watch its final episode (released June 19) till then and didn't want to wait in a lot of suspense before the finale. But your comments prompt me to give it a try because if it's actually bad, then I can just forget about it, and so far, yeah, this writing is not good.

I've been very happy with NewsBlur.

Substack’s response to the open letter isn’t a surprise, but it does confirm they absolutely will not abandon the right-wing framing of free speech they’ve adopted which not only accepts hate speech, but actively defends racism, transphobia, and other forms of bigotry.

I’ve already been looking into moving to a new platform, and will put more emphasis on that after the holidays.

I've been trying to minimize the Substacks I've paid for, but I'd be happy to pay for a subscription to your newsletter on another platform (as long as my own income holds up).

Has Netflix done the thing where they disappear their own shows or is that mostly a Max move?

@misc
Don't know about Netflix, but it's definitely a thing Paramount/Showtime and Disney/Hulu have done a bunch.
