For a while now I've been quite happy running LibreWolf, with Bitwarden and some other privacy extensions. I've also switched over from Google to Kagi as a search engine; doesn't keep me anonymous, but I do love not being the product for once.
I gave Rust a shot as part of my move away from Electron and into Tauri. Man, the learning curve is brutal; the language and syntax isn't too bad honestly, but the borrow checker? Ugh, it's like my mum complaining at me back when I was a kid to clean my room all the damn time.
It gets easier as you stumble and look up stack overflow posts over and over, but it's definitely a challenge. That being said, if you stick with it, Rust almost guarantees that your app will never crash, so I'm a big fan.
Personally, I started off with Roblox back in the early 2010s, and taught myself Lua. I really liked those Tycoon games, and wanted to see how they worked....
I don't quite know the term for the subs yet coming from reddit. But in reddit words what videogame subreddits are you excited to be created over time?...
Quite interested to see some reviews of this device once it comes out. I've used the Quest 2 in the past and while it certainly is lacking compared to higher end models from other companies, the portability is king. It's good to see the Quest 2 coming down in price after the price hike recently.
I’ve got a playlist going on my local Jellyfin instance featuring songs from Kingdom Hearts, Hollow Knight, Ori and the Blind Forst/Will of the Wisps, The Witcher 3, Celeste, and some other games. Super relaxing, helps me get into the zone.
I quite enjoy VR experiences, and I went from owning an Oculus Rift 2 right around the launch of Half Life Alyx, to now owning a Quest 2. Honestly I very rarely play it these days, but for a while my mates and I would hang out and play mini golf or some other multiplayer games. Being physically present and being able to wave and make motion gestures made it feel more real.
The group’s split up now, and I don’t have much of an urge to play VR myself. Beat saber is cool and all, but making room to play in my small apartment is definitely a pain when I could just sit down and play something on my PC.
With Reddit's encroaching IPO and their poorly planned API changes, we need a place to keep up with privacy topics that isn't tied to an anti-privacy, centralized sinking ship site....
Something I made quite extensive use of back on Reddit was the ability to wrap related subreddits into a single multireddit, which I could then browse as I wanted....
I know nothing about the codebase, but being a developer myself, I’m curious to hear how complex you’d think the task would be, and how much domain knowledge of the fediverse / activity pub would be required.
What browser / extensions do you make use of?

Personally trying to learn more Rust programming, but awesome to see the cadence of their releases. What's been your experience with Rust development?

What are we listening to today?
Thought I'd see who's about and whether we could get a thread going on music recommendations from what we're jamming today....
Do you play VR?
Wondering whether there is a VR community here. What systems? What games?...

Any plans for a multireddit like feature?
Something I made quite extensive use of back on Reddit was the ability to wrap related subreddits into a single multireddit, which I could then browse as I wanted....
Do you use reddit mostly through the app or web?
Because I only use web, on mobile and desktop. I can't live without adblock.
