Thinking about leaving lemmy.world for a more free-speech focused instance. Does anyone have any ideas?
Seeing a thread get locked just for asking if it's okay to disagree with trans people's identities really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't want moderators pushing their agenda on to me. If I see something I don't like, I can block that user or community. It'd be nice to block entire instances, but I don't think we have that...

How do server upkeep costs look like for fediverse stuff?
I'm pretty new to the fediverse, and I find the idea amazing. But one thing concerns me though. How will server owners be able to afford to run servers with massive amounts of data coming through them? Theoretically speaking, if a Reddit migration were to happen how would server upkeep costs look like?

The admin of sh.itjust.works has been approached but as of yet has failed to reply to concerned Lemmy users. I’m glad Beehaw admins look out for us by cutting off instances that host communities like this.
Question: when is sh.itjust.works going to upgrading to v0.18.
was trying to join a community on another instance and was running into problems. I messaged the owner of the community and they said they were having similar problems till they upgraded to v0.18. so just wondering not trying to be an ass or pushy....
