i've been working on writing a fedi server in rust (because i'm sick, and i tend to have bad ideas like this when sick),

currently got to storing users and custom emotes in the database ​:sylveon_uwu:​

huh, on sharkey profile pictures, banners, and backgrounds have federated alt text as they are drive files, and drive files have descriptions,

of course, this doesn't mean much as no fedi software supports it,,,

i just learned about Map.groupBy in javascript: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Map/groupBy

it can be used to group an iterable using a callback,

@o76923 yeah, so i made this thing mostly due to being annoyed with emojos.in not grouping things by emoji category, ​:sylveon_uwu:​

figured it would be a fun thing that wouldn't take long to implement, and yet it took 2 hours, haha ​:sylveon_heart:​,

doesn't really matter however, it was a fun project to make, and it is something on my otherwise pretty blank website,

i have a diploma in software development and have no idea what like 70% of fedi tech posts are about

sometimes i kinda wish i actually put it to use, but i know i learnt virtually nothing there

except that my personal philosophies are pretty opposed to most tech companies

i really needa find some simple projects to get into "actual" coding

@asoukes if that helps, most of the tech posts i see on fedi on queer side of things are absolutely cursed stuff ​:sylveon_uwu:​, and looking at the accounts you follow, they are mostly queer people,

if you understand 30% of it, you genuinely know a lot more about programming than about 95% of programmers in my humble opinion ​:sylveon_heart:​,

@lunareclipse i'm not really a fan of this being an extension-less file, which means this cannot really work with shared hosting services like pages.gay, neocities, GitHub Pages and so on which do not allow sending custom headers,

is there any particular reason not to call it /.well-known/button.json instead?
