Hi we're Luna, 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 :neofox_flag_trans: :neofox_flag_demilesbian:
A median system of 3, Lily (:neofox_angel:), Lucy (:neofox_melt:) and Lea (:neofox:)

Meow at us in DMs when sending a follow request, otherwise it will take months to years before we review it (we have ~500 pending follow requests right now and no energy to go through them).

We're currently studying bioinformatics in uni, we're into programming (Rust and Python my beloved), photography, open source stuff, casual gaming. Also have some interest in cybersecurity, medicine, electronics, online privacy, Linux and probably some things we forgot to mention here.
We're involved in developing Veloren and members of the Kraków Hackerspace.

Expect us posting about hobbies, trans stuff, mental health (behind CW), university, whatever we hyperfocus on in a given time, and overall being gay.

May occasionally post NSFW text but it will always be behind a content warning. Most of that goes on our alt though. Obviously don't interact with those posts if you're a minor.

Please have a filled profile before you follow request, we won't accept if we can't "vibe check" you.

Please use tone indicators, thanks.

it's really funny how the chain of trust with TLS CAs is built in such a way where the security of the entire system is equal to the security of the worst CA your web browser trusts

maybe I shouldn't learn more about how the web works, this is all so cursed

lunareclipse,

@sugar
that's a good point tbh

also I was thinking that serving an image by default is kinda odd because that implies a default image whereas the json is a list and in no way specifies a default

cc @arch

lunareclipse,

@arch @sugar Tbh I feel like the JSON is easy enough to write in the smallest required form that maybe you should just drop the part with putting the image in .well-known at all and rely on the json linking to it

I imagine writing a page that uses some javascript to give you a "type in a URL to parse the well known button data and display it incl. pasteable HTML snippets" wouldn't be very hard with the json-only approach

lunareclipse,

@arch @sugar also at this point maybe the drafts should be versioned :neofox_woozy:

this reminds me of my cursed infrastructure for building the website where I moved from "php + bash + python as a static site generator" through "zola" to "a fork of zola + a pipeline of like 3 other programs + docker + caddy" (you can read more about it here: lunareclipse.zone/blog/005-random-blog-improvements )

If AI leads to interfaces being turned from clickable elements into generic chat interfaces and you have to converse in order to get anything done -- and I bet that will happen to a degree --, I will stop using computers entirely.

lunareclipse,

@volpeon what do you mean you want to press a few buttons instead of waiting A While for the AI Chat to spit out a deliberately slowed down reply that's probably wrong /s

lunareclipse,

@volpeon this reminds me of dealing with Aliexpress once where if you have An Issue, you have to find some magic sentence that gets the chatbot to immediately redirect you to a human customer support employee

Anyway I looked into this and apparently all major network location service providers (lead by google) have adopted the _nomap suffix as an opt-out

lunareclipse,

@arch also I wrote a proper JSON Schema for this as specified in the 2020-12 draft on json-schema.org/

{
  "$schema": "https://json-schema.org/draft/2020-12/schema",
  "$id": "https://example.com/button-schema",
  "title": ".well-known 88x31 Button JSON Schema",
  "type": "array",
  "items": {
    "title": "An 88x31 button available from the website",
    "type": "object",
    "properties": {
      "id": {
        "title": "The ID of the button",
        "type": "string"
      },
      "uri": {
        "title": "The canonical uri of the image file",
        "type": "string",
        "format": "uri"
      },
      "link": {
        "title": "Where the image should link to if used on another website",
        "type": "string",
        "format": "uri"
      },
      "sha256": {
        "title": "SHA256 hash of the current version of the image file",
        "type": "string",
        "format": "regex",
        "pattern": "^[A-Fa-f0-9]{64}$"
      }
    },
    "required": [
      "id",
      "uri"
    ]
  }
}
lunareclipse,

@arch one small note, the uri format should still be uri, the pattern will be applied even if the format is not regex and verifying the validity of the URI is probably more important than verifying HTTPS anyway :neofox_floof:

lunareclipse,

@arch so like this

      "uri": {
        "title": "The canonical uri of the image file",
        "type": "string",
        "format": "uri",
        "pattern": "^https://"
      },
