In about 14 hours is my general exam. I know my formulas for calculating PEP and peak / RMS voltage conversions are incorrect (and hopefully I'll have time to fix them after work)
@kr1st Well, 59% across the entire Extra question pool.... done in one sitting... and now my head hurts (go figure). You don't happen to have any online sources I could check for some of the fundamental knowledge?
@tek_dmn I'm sorry, I really don't. It has been a long time since I last checked into what's out there in training material. I probably should check into that so I can answer that question when it comes up.
I know @kb6nu has an Extra Class License Study Guide in PDF format that you can download for 10 bucks. I've never seen any of his guides, so please don't take it as an endorsement, but it's an option I would consider.
Not to say anything about this artist in particular, just using them as an example, but... With every passing day the furry art world seems to get more and more disconnected from reality. I hail from the time when a ref was $60.
I REALLY cannot tell if global inflation has really gotten this bad in 5 years, if the "furries are the backbone of the global IT industry" joke is so true that it's expected now everyone has thousands of dollars of disposable income a month, or if artists have gone the "I have bills to pay" route and started pricing way above the demand curve...
...and if it's the latter something is wrong because everything seems to be this level of elevated.
I love tab stacks. I can compress 6 youtube tabs, 8 #EliteDangerous / #StarCitizen tabs, my own management backend, mastodon, and a blog post I'm referencing, into the visual space of 6 tabs, meaning I also have more than like 5 pixels of tab to click on.
I'm trying some very back-alley #troubleshooting because (big surprise here) #StarCitizen is crashing. Specifically, whenever I get near a planet it'll crash and crash until I respawn in a hab. DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
Symptoms look like the known driver issue with the #nvidia 10xx cards doing weird things with VRAM voltages. But the fix for that exacerbates it.
Do some more poking, and the r_enable_gpu_sync 2 console command fixes it.. but also drops me from 59 FPS to about 4. No.
Do the REST of the poking, and underclocking the core by about 100 MHz seems to prevent it. Note: I've not OC'd this card, past what the factory clocking is. I need to UC it from stock. w.t_f();
I guess, lessons for anyone playing Star Citizen on an aorus 1080ti?
Computer with <pick your favorite> HDMI capture card, a GTX 1660 (really just a neutered RTX card), and either Arch or Debian, configured to load exwm (Emacs WM. Yes, Emacs can be your window manager) with the init.el set to autolaunch OBS. Throw in a good bit of memory and like a Ryzen 5.
Congratulations, streaming rig to break out the gaming and streaming tasks to two entire hosts!
