iPad Pro with M4 chip boasts impressive performance jump compared to just-released M3 MacBook Air (9to5mac.com)

On raw performance might, the M4 really does live up to Apple’s promises, should deliver. Single core is up about 20% compared to all M3 chips and more than 40% compared to M2. The generational computational leap from the previous M2 iPad Pro is at least a 42% jump on single-core and multi-core.

I can only think of one thing you could do with this much power … run an LLM

I mostly use a download manager for parallel downloading a file. (downloading multiple parts of a single file at the same time).

You should change the title, as it is the continuation of the story. People will think its the same story being repeated.

Many popular foss apps use Open collective

Rabbit R1 is Just an Android App (lemmy.world)

See, it turns out that the Rabbit R1 seems to run Android under the hood and the entire interface users interact with is powered by a single Android app. A tipster shared the Rabbit R1’s launcher APK with us, and with a bit of tinkering, we managed to install it on an Android phone, specifically a Pixel 6a....

You are missing the point. The point is that there is no need for such a device, a simple android app can do everything that rabbit r1 does.

Well, looks like rabbit is taking down these videos 😂. All of the videos of rabbit r1 running doom or Minecraft are now private. Still found one on twitter. twitter.com/i/status/1784224319557730722

I was lazy to find the real picture. So, I just posted the first one I found.

Broadcom is also closed source (I think). I have to use closed source drivers for my broadcom wireless adapter on Linux.

This article seem speculative. Qualcomm did provide TDP info for Snapdragon X elite. They displayed two variants. One with 80 watt tdp which was 10% faster (according to them) than M2 Max and 23 watt variant which was a little faster than M3.

Rofi also has a wayland fork which I use rofi-lbonn-wayland. All of the previous rofi configs work fine with this.

Yes, I know about that. But why is US limiting technological advancements in China? (By banning GPUs / companies).

I don’t see China doing the same.

Then How is Google different? From my view, It also manipulates search results.

I don’t understand what US problem with China is.

Note: I am not an American nor a Chinese. I have never used tiktok before. I am just an outsider trying to get a perspective.

What're some of the dumbest things you've done to yourself in Linux?

I’m working on a some materials for a class wherein I’ll be teaching some young, wide-eyed Windows nerds about Linux and we’re including a section we’re calling “foot guns”. Basically it’s ways you might shoot yourself in the foot while meddling with your newfound Linux powers....

I use artix Linux with hyprland WM. System uses 384mb of ram on idle.

Edit: Even with extreme debloat you can’t get this performance on windows.

thequantumcog,
@thequantumcog@lemmy.world avatar

You notice it on old hardware. On my Latitude e6220 (i3 2nd gen) there is a night and day performance difference between windows 10 and Linux.

thequantumcog,
@thequantumcog@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, you are right. But windows load programs Into ram that I don’t even want to use.

In addition to less ram usage thee is also less CPU usage and faster boot time (with HDD).
