tombruzzo,

The Third Wave in Albert Park is a great feed. They did get in on the NFT trend a couple of years ago though, if that colours your perception of them at all

tombruzzo,

I only did it once a week and I would ride about halfway home then get the train. I did make it all the way home once but it was a slog. My cycling computer said the ride in was about an hour and a half

tombruzzo,

I remember reading on the Conversation years ago one problem is we’ve been trained to see everyone on the road as equal. That’s not the case, someone in a car is surrounded by steel in a one tonne machine that can go 100km/h, but they’re the one missing out when stuck behind a cyclist or a cycle lane is implemented. Spaces need to be planned with a focus on the movement of people first, then cars.

We also need more complete cycling infrastructure. You look at the cycle lanes on maps and the paths look like a minecraft village. They’re disconnected and don’t link up anywhere. Also, a metre of green paint at the edge of a three lane road where the speed limit is 80km/h is not cycling infrastructure.

I used to ride the 33kms into the city for work, but that’s because I like cycling and got all the gear for it. The ride was either on paths or quiet roads but more could be done to link up sections and make the ride faster.

There was another article about the ‘cycling donut’ effect in Melbourne where people close to the CBD could walk or take trams, further out people rode because it was that sweet spot of a distance, and beyond that people drove or took public transport because everything was too far away.

Australia is a perfect candidate for cycling infrastructure because our cities are mostly flat, it never gets as cold as it does in Europe or NA, and the heat is generally more of a dry heat which can be avoided with some shade and a breeze. Our cities should be designed around 3-speed town bikes instead of cars.

tombruzzo,

Finally bought and played a bit of Robo Quest last night. It’s a fun little fps rougelike with some Doom Eternal influences.

I have this bad habit of wish listing games and never actually buying them so I’m glad I pulled the trigger on this one

tombruzzo,

The classic one when you’re the seller is they say they’ll pay with PayID and their partner will pick it up.

Then they say they’re having complications with PayID and if you send them $1000 or so, they’ll send the difference back.

I think it’s a failure of the banks for not teaching people how PayID works properly so now it just gets exploited by scammers

tombruzzo,

It is in New Zealand. But next week we’ll be off whilst they’re at work

tombruzzo,

A unimog video came up in my recommended last night. I must have watched a top gear episode about them years ago for the name to be familiar.

Such a cool vehicle. Those ridiculous American trucks wish they were unimogs

tombruzzo,

Real ones buy a 70 year old unimog and maintain it themselves. Only posers buy a modern truck from the dealer

tombruzzo,

Glad that worked out. Sounds like they were genuine as well.

One of the classic marketplace scams when you’re a seller is they say they want to buy, but want you to payid them money and they’ll send the difference back

tombruzzo,

I think the biggest issue here is the presence and charisma of the person delivering the speeches.

tombruzzo,

How IT are we talking about? I have an IT adjacent role that could convince people

tombruzzo,

This has always been the case. I don’t know how Microsoft became the dominant player in business software when no one knows how to use their products properly

tombruzzo,

You’ll find yourself going deeper into the rabbithole looking for harder stuff. I like technical and progressive metal, it’s amazing what some of those bands can do

tombruzzo,

Went to see some Valais sheep today. Those lambs are cute.

The boys knew exactly what to do as well. They went straight for the Lucerne and started putting it through the fence

tombruzzo,

Here’s the best I got of the sheep. I think my girlfriend will have more of them, I was focusing on the boys

tombruzzo,

I remember when I test rode it I felt it would suit a few people perfectly.

I know Gomier do surprisingly cheap trikes and they have an electric model:

…com.au/…/gomier-electric-cargo-trike-red/

This place also sells a tricycle that fits a wheelchair in the front. Become an NDIS provider and you could get work taking wheelchair bound people for rides as part of their care package

tombruzzo,

It’s not cheap bit have a look at the Cube hybrid trike. It has cargo storage and a joint in the middle to be a bit more nimble. Otherwise there are a bunch of electric cargo trikes. If you’re already paying a premium you might as well get some storage space

tombruzzo,

I registered for the Melbourne Property expo this weekend. I probably won’t end up going but it would be interesting to see all the worst people you know in one place

tombruzzo,

My hope was to try sell them software I can get an affiliate commission on. Kind of like becoming a parasite on top of a parasite

Josh Frydenberg breaks silence on political comeback rumours amid Liberal Party criticism (www.sbs.com.au)

Former treasurer Josh Frydenberg says he is not rushing back into politics and supports the candidate his party has chosen to contest his former Melbourne seat, after controversy swirled around the Liberal Party and its treatment of female candidates....

tombruzzo,

I cannot fathom why a woman a year younger than me would want anything to do with the Liberal party.

But given the area she’s running in it gives you a good idea of her background and upbringing.

tombruzzo,

It sounds like you’re doing everything you can to look after Melbcat. It’s hard looking after a patient when they can’t talk

tombruzzo,

Sounds like it’s time to wean yourself off milk and start drinking your tea black

tombruzzo,

I make the boys tortellini and meatballs and the love it, as long as it’s not served too hot to start with

tombruzzo,

My brother had a WRX from 2005 or so. It was a limited edition with a tension bar across the motor, single forged wheels, and some special suspension or something. One of 200 made.

It was a smart move because it was more feral than a regular WRX, but you still had some of the modern car comforts before getting into the stripped back race spec STI.

tombruzzo,

What did white people feed their kids before bananas? They have their own case, are the perfect size and shape for tiny hands to hold, and you can chuck them in smoothies and pancakes when they start getting old.

There has to be some data correlating a reduction in child mortality when bananas started getting imported.
