I kinda want to make #kombucha from scratch, but all the guides online just tell you to buy a SCOBY. If I look around how to make a SCOBY myself, they all tell me to buy kombucha. This seems a little circular, and I am left to wonder how I can really make one that I can properly grow myself.

I want to make it myself from scratch only for the feeling of having it made myself, it just doesn't feel "self-made" if I have to buy the main part from someone else.

The IRC bot running on this server now fails to start

And this is why I love #Perl more than I will ever be able to love #Python. Especially in the 3.x series, Python stuff just breaks randomly after some updates. Its ridiculous how unreliable it is.

Went to the #Efteling today, the weather was a bit meh at first but later on in the day the sun was really nice. Had a good time with my family, and gf really enjoyed the Carnaval Festival ride. Pretty good way to pass a Sunday, though I am very tired now :3

Gf is celebrating her birthday this Saturday, so I've been working in the kitchen all day to prepare for the feast she's getting. So far I've prepared 6 slabs of meat to become schnitzels, my first attempt at creating acar, and a decent amount of sweet salsa dip.

Tomorrow I'll be making ice tea and fried tuna in sambal as another dip. On Saturday morning I have meatballs planned, also for snacking while waiting on the actual desert. In addition to the wienerschnitzel, it will be served with creamy mashed potatoes and (deep) fried cauliflower, with cheese sauce.

Its a lot of work so far, but I think it'll be a day full of delicious snacks that she and her friends will enjoy very much 😁

#Element is the only of my frequent "apps" that is too fucking bloated to just load properly in 1 go. Misskey, Nextcloud, Jellyfin, and my XMPP client have no trouble dealing with this admittedly pretty slow connection, but Element just gives up after 5 minutes of not rendering anything, and then just gives me an error message. A reload and another 3-ish minutes and it finally renders a chat.

Imagine having to wait for 8 minutes just to read a message. Is this something people truly consider the future of communication, unironically?
