It’s hard to read this and think that Israel is a peace loving western democracy, as the pro-genocide counter protesters at University campuses claim to be
I’m not sure it’s worth the price they’re asking though, especially if poor takes from Bernard Keane are common and not caught by editors or even checked for sanity
were forced to do free labour for several weeks to keep a roof over their heads.
Reading this sentence I initially thought, “fair enough” sounds like a reasonable trade but the further I read into it the worse it got and I think this would be a better description:
“were required to do collectively 100 hours a week so they had somewhere to park their caravan to live in”
It seems like they were hopping between caravan parks and campsites. Availability of sites, costs and perhaps maximum stay things would influence that. I don’t think they would move around so much if they didn’t need to.
Absolutely could be the case with things with specific tasks. It’s always a good idea to share what your development environment is so others can replicate and if they’re using something a bit different they probably know what they’re doing anyway
Worth a read, he’s probably right. I don’t think domestic violence is committed by evil men, no one is born evil. Something needs to be done about addressing the root problem
I went to an all boy school. Sexist and disrespect towards women and girls pretty much went unchallenged by the majority, it was mostly hidden from the teachers but they rarely would interfere. There was an instance in year 12 where one of the prefects made a comment which was pretty disgusting at a year level assembly, a female teacher who was there I had a class with later that day took issue with it as well. The comment was supposedly a joke, however it wasn’t the sort of joke where it’s intended to be funny because the view is stupid or outdated. I probably could’ve done something about it, but I think my discontent with the student leadership and the groups involved was already established so my voice wouldn’t have carried any weight. At least it didn’t when we brought other allegations against student leadership to the head of senior school in year 11.
I’ve got no idea what those people are doing now but I can only hope they’ve changed their views
It’s the 21st Century now. There is no authoritive source of information, they should’ve added a link to back themselves up. Looking through Wikipedia, calling her the “Mother of WiFi” is a bit rich when there were probably other women more directly involved in WiFi who are more deserving of that title. But she is just the character required to appease the Twitter mob for another day
It’s very loose terminology. We call Oppenheimer the father of the atomic bomb when Einstein, etc laid the foundation for the technology. It’s a stupid thing to be arguing about
Attributing someone as the “mother” or “father” of anything is a stupid simplification. Probably some dumb American thing. It’s just stupid. Not only does it imply that there can only be one female and/or male with this title for any given field (“the”), it can be inaccurate. In general by making this simplification you are setting two different standards of contribution, which goes against any idea of equality. I’d rather consider them substantial contributors. That way these arguments are completely avoided.
