I've been really trying to get away from ableist language in my insults of other people. It's pretty challenging because it's so baked in to common vocabulary but I try to encourage myself by thinking of it like a writing exercise to come up with amusing or clever or more original ways to denigrate someone. I find that reading articles about billionaires really gets the creative juices flowing.

One of my worst pet peeves in this not-actually-post-Covid-but-we're-going-to-pretend-like-it-is hellhole is when like nurses or providers will ask me, upon seeing me masking, if I "would feel more comfortable if they masked".

Like I hate that they pretend like masking me is this comfort thing, and not because there's some disease thats disabling and killing people, especially vulnerable populations, that's still out there.

My mom hasn't seen her mom in Kyoto since 2019. Some factors came together so she decided to go next month.

She lost a lot of her vision in a botched surgery in 2020. I can't bear the thought of her travelling alone for the first time after losing her vision, DURING A PANDEMIC. So I'm going with her.

I'll need to work so hard on my PhD, before & during. I'll be there for her, not me. If I can eat one slice of 食パン I'll be happy 😊

After I graduate I'll have ALL the fun 😁
