Has anyone else run into problems using the patchwork package with the new ggplot2 version 3.5.0 ... ?? (Probably reverting to 3.4.4 for now but wondering if anyone else is getting bitten or if it's just me - I don't see anything on https://github.com/thomasp85/patchwork/issues, but https://github.com/easystats/performance/issues/691#issue-2164468933 ...

@joranelias @bbolker I have and initially reverted to using gridExtra. But I think it’s gone away with updating all the packages. The error was something about == check incorrect.

Who are the CRAN extenders??? Network showing "^gg" CRAN packages w/ ggplot2 depends/imports. ; data via project. Closer look at figure: https://evamaerey.github.io/featurette/2023-11-27-ggedgelist-gg-cran-extenders/ggedgelist-gg-cran-extenders_files/figure-html/feature_auto_12_output-1.png

@EvaMaeRey Nice and fun to read! GGally is missing though, which may mean you need to include GG (upper case) packages.

my proposal on statistical inference for data visualisation wasn’t funded. What happened? Three detailed reviewers ranked it 1st among their reviews, with letter grades two As and one B, two top 10%, one 10-25%. The ARC college of “experts” shifted the score to a letter grade of E, bottom 75-100%, no explanation, no reason. I want to thank the detailed reviewers for believing in the research, and this message is to make public what happened to it in the final stage.

@jcolomb in reference to what?

visnut,
@visnut@aus.social avatar

@jcolomb and in the context of teaching, or research or mentoring …?

visnut,
@visnut@aus.social avatar

@jcolomb oh, now I understand. We recognise software as a promotion metric, we try to do regular hackathons as a group, talk to each other about our software activity.

LatinR finished last Friday. The best of conferences! Many speakers talking about their work using open data and open software, several government groups from different South American countries opening their data, and supporting accountability and transparency. Diversity of speakers and attendees was brilliant! Thanks to organising team led by @pacocuak @rivaquiroga @yabellini. Once again great support from the R Consortium for activities that make a difference !

As a nerd who does a lot of data visualization for my day job and is putting much of my (scant) hobby time into permacomputing, it’s hard to keep @visnut and @viznut straight.
