What tool do you use to create a very rough, Gantt-style project timelines? The perfect tool let’s you quickly drag out rough time periods, set dependencies for certain periods or key milestones like presentations or dates for client feedback and approval. And when you adjust individual time periods, connected periods adjust / get pushed out accordingly. That’s it.

whalecoiner,

@matthiasott I haven’t used it, but this came up in a search for tools last week. https://www.openproject.org

whalecoiner,

@matthiasott I’m on SNCF now so I can relax.

Every time I travel on trains I remember why I hate travelling on trains. The reason is always Deutsche Bahn.

whalecoiner,

I love trains. I’d travel everywhere on train if I could. The problem is always (lack of) state investment and a capitalist rush rush rush mindset to life.

whalecoiner,

Anyway I have to be in Paris for the 18.00 Eurostar so let’s see how spicy this journey gets.

whalecoiner,

On this occasion DB simply cancelled the train and didn’t announce it. It took me asking at the info desk to find out what had happened.

whalecoiner,

Honestly I’m just flying next time. Bored of having to deal with DB’s awfulness every journey. :(

whalecoiner,

@sarajw haha worse things happen at sea mate. Just a moan.

whalecoiner,

Managed to get to Frankfurt. A furious argument is occurring outside the carriage door between the staff and a dude. We are due to leave for Paris in 60 seconds.

whalecoiner,

Ah, he’s German. Natürlich.

whalecoiner,

The train announcements are now in French. God I love this language.

whalecoiner,

French is a gentle massage on a summers day. German is being kicked to death in a rainy carpark.

whalecoiner,

@mariusor a bit of everything, tbh. But I will note that the german accent simply doesn’t have intonation in it, so punctuation is achieved by sheer volume.

whalecoiner,

@mariusor that’s the British for you - we have to demonstrate to everyone that we’re having fun! Even when we’re not!

whalecoiner,

@mariusor in Britain we call them Hooray Henry’s for this very reason.

whalecoiner,

@rachelandrew their trains are infinitely nicer than British trains, but their scheduling is somehow worse. 😭

whalecoiner,

The instance the train crosses the Rhine the countryside becomes dominated by vineyards. ❤️🇫🇷

whalecoiner,

If I had to choose an idyllic location to live in forever it would be the countryside of France.

Maybe because the few holidays I had as a kid were mostly in a caravan in France.

whalecoiner,

I also had a lot of pilgrimages to Lourdes which might feed into that. I weirdly enjoyed them. (Yes I was raised heavily Catholic).

whalecoiner,

@kevinteljeur @psneeze everyone has a kink.

A good portion of those voting AfD in are not racists or extremists or nazis. The battle is to get those people to vote for respectable parties, not be so disillusioned they kick the system by voting AfD.

Saying Sonneberg will now get what it deserves, that people should now avoid the place is wrong. You’re never going to win people around by telling them they’re wrong, by excluding them, belittling them.

whalecoiner,

@jon Two things can be true simultaneously: people vote AfD (and similar) to protest at a system that is failing them; and people who vote AfD are consciously voting for the far-right and are therefore nasty little bastards.

I say this as someone from one of these places in the UK - a dead ex-mining city fucked over by 80s right-wing politics that everyone with a whiff of brain, ambition, or otherness fled.

You do not know how much you need one of these until you do not have one of these. Stupid pollen thunderstorm combo.

whalecoiner,

“Just because the symptoms disappear for a few months it does not mean you are magically cured!”

whalecoiner,

@mariusor absolutely the same!

whalecoiner, to random

I really need to get this…. whatever it is autoimmune thing sorted out. Symptoms are getting worse. But it involves dealing with German doctors. After my last encounter with a specialist who refused to speak English (despite advertising he could) in order to “teach Ausländers like you a lesson in integration” I have little desire to start trying to describe medical issues in my sheiße deutsch.

whalecoiner,

@janl ah my wife is B2 level, so not too worried there. It’s more the finger wagging which will either upset me or make me punch them.
