Hiya~! You can call me Wishes!

I’m a transgirl in late 20s living somewhere in Poland! I’ve been enjoying unfiltered access to the internet since at least 2008 and it shows. In a sense, I’m the prototype of a chronically online person~! I should have not said this out loud. . .

I’m a bisexual person mostly leaning sapphic, stuck somewhere on aro spectrum, very polyamorous! I study English Lit, and I'm an ex-philosophy student (finished without submitting my thesis for reasons oops)

I love animals, ferrets and cats and dogs and rats. In my free time, I either work on one of my endless worldbuilding projects, paint, or write a short story or two or naughty fiction but don’t tell anyone, children avert your eyes, it's to pay my bills. I’m deeply into gothic and horror fiction, I overanalyze any piece of media I bump into! I play a lot of games, although recently more chill stuff like Pokemon (furret best Pokemon) or Minecraft~

According to some of my friends, I am in possession of “mommy vibes”, I’m too smart for my own good and, despite being rather soft-spoken, I have a rather teasing sense of humor (once I get to know you at least~). I have a lot of confidence in myself and it’s difficult to make me feel bashful. I’m rather emotional, though, letting myself feel through everything deeply and properly, never bottling things up. May sporadically burst into tears seeing a very cute animal

I always communicate upfront if something bothers me, direct yet empathetic communication is the best approach to relationships in my eyes

I wonder if Luna is such a common transfem name due to the allegorical nature that the Moon has in many cultures

Consider the Japanese tale of Kaguya (as opposed to the Japanese anime of Kaguya-sama), the Chinese tale of Chang’e, or the Aesop fable of “The Moon and Her Mother”. The Moon is so strongly associated with women, more so than the Sun is.

I think the Moon in many cultures has such a strong allure, so strong that as a civilisation we succeeded in visiting it.

The Moon has always represented femininity, but it has represented power and attraction (see: the tides), and not to mention that it has occult and witchcraft symbolism too, a source of strength and power.

So I think it makes a lot of sense to call yourself Luna… You are drawing on thousands, if not millions of years of folklore, history, and spirit.

A name is symbolic, and it is even more symbolic when you chose it for yourself… All names have some kind of meaning

I don’t think it is a cliche to call yourself Luna — just because it is common does not invalidate the journey you went through to pick it

But just know that you are as the Moon is; so beautiful

So today I got into a conversation with a friend on the topic of perception of self, or more precisely the topic of disturbed sense of identity we both struggle with (be it due to struggling with dissociative or personality disorders, being plural etc.), all brought up by one meanspirited comment on TikTok that just amounts to “you’re not your mental disorder so stop acting like it is.”

I feel like a lot of people don’t exactly understand the oppressive feeling of void that can come with disturbed sense of identity, the numerous attempts to somehow fill this person-shaped hole within our being just for all those frantic tries to amount to nothing, often resulting in seeking out external validation of some sorts. And mental health diagnosis, whether done by a professional or as a result of self-diagnosis, can really be a life-changing step.

Simply because, finally, there might be a piece of you that feels somehow objective, concrete. While all other traits of one’s being can be perceived as “copied” from someone, developed to “fit in”, some diagnoses can genuinely feel like the first time you discover something true about yourself. An anchor to base a lot of things around.

BPD was this kind of anchor for me, ironically enough. Even though it is definitely the source of my issues with stable sense of self, the idea of it in itself became a stabilizing thing. I don’t know who I am anymore? But I know I have BPD, I am the person with BPD. And it somehow helped me to develop a deeper sense of identity with time. Same with being trans, suddenly no longer my experience of gender and having physical body was nebulous. I had a precise idea to ground myself to.

So the idea that “I am not my disorder” just feels weak. If I didn’t first perceive myself as just that, I doubt I’d be anyone else now. So fuck you random TikTok user. :3
