zoe,

i am holding on to my 2006 dumb hunk of metal…no spyware…also solid body instead of those new cars with body made of thin aluminium…or the alternative which would be an impotent electric smartphone on 4 wheels

zoe,

we need a mozilla or a linux car tbh…that is feature upgradable…like adding extensions or apps

I hate it that I miss all interesting low volume communities posts

I wish Lemmy had the Mastodon functionality to create your own lists of communities. I subscribe to a ton of communities and I have a couple of them which are very low volume but I’m very interested in seeing each and every post there. Right now I have to remember them and go to them specifically once every couple of days to...

zoe,

lemmy.wold eats up most of the feed and eclipses smmaller coms, in a way that i hav to filter it so i could see the niche and curious stuff, which happens to be interesting most of the time.

zoe,

aerial transport is justified for intercontinental transport, but shouldnt be adopted when land travel is possible

zoe,

the problem isn’t the car, but the salary, which is basically straight theft, and that is eating on the Mh (man-hour). if one were paid twice as much, that would translate to 8 mile per Mh, also imagine there were one seat cars, instead of paying for a 5 seat car, u would save at least on half as much of the car cost ( also a 1L for 100km engine locked at 90km/h for speed is also logical), which translates to 16 miles per Mh, so on and so forth…also taxing the rich and subsidizing public facilities will extend Mhours way more…

zoe,

yea man, i was wondnering too. trains are the least harmful, even the most polluting ones, the amount of torque they deliver for the amound of fuel consumed ratio is just beyond consideration

zoe,

if u want to transport friends and whatnot, then dont come complaining about car cost…i was just trying to optimize car use cases. sure u wanna go camping ? might as well buy a AWD car for a trip per year and pay for the fuel of daily work commute. might as well buy two cars in this regard…if only public transport was that reliable, and also wages were fair…

zoe,
zoe,

u would think a 1L gasoline engine with 86Nm of torque would serve awd in rugged terrain ? unless u live in the us, where even front wheel’s are run by 2 liter diesel, at 360Nm

zoe,

okay

zoe, (edited )

just tax evading, nothing to see…nothing is uplifiting about this

A Japanese Startup Is 3D Printing Small Homes With The Same Price Tag As A Car (www.yankodesign.com)

3D home printing has matured enough as a technology to be viable. Yet despite the global housing shortage, chronic to so many countries, has yet to take off. Here the $37,600 price includes finished rooms inside. The company is aiming to build on cheap land in Japan’s smaller cities. They specifically mention targeting remote...

Barred from freezing their eggs at home, single Chinese women are traveling elsewhere (www.nbcnews.com)

Egg freezing has become a growing topic of discussion in China, where officials alarmed by the country’s first population decline in six decades are trying to boost the birth rate even as young people are increasingly putting off marriage and childbearing or avoiding it altogether....

zoe,

yea man, china is praised too much here. it also has its shortcomings. China has built a chip on a 7nm node, which is considered news, by chinese standards. 7nm node has reached commercial yield 4 years ago, then it took about 2 years to reduce the gate size by 1 nm, until reaching 5nm. and beyond 4 nm, it takes about 4 years to reduce the gate by 1 nm, on average. Foundries are funded by their revenue, which means that with all the profits, a foundry could research a smaller process node, all with the money of companies like Apple and the such, Qualcomm, AMD…combined. Could china subsidize the semiconductor research with that same amount of money ? will see tbh. Also many of chinese phones are just e-waste ( very sketchy, unreliable lpddr ram on phones, the thing cant cache an app for a few minutes…app always has to be restarted…an old samsung phone would perform way better than a huawei or xiaomi phone, and designing 120w charging isnt a useful feature really )

zoe,

man that app is ducking unreliable, please stop recommending that thing

zoe,

i am on linux ubuntu 22.04 . i try to control the pc using my phone screen as trackpad and its on display keyboard but can’ achieve that. i also have this gsconnect gnome extension and both my devices are yet to be paired. ngl i am also using this obscure chinese brand called infinix for a phone, so its not necessarily a samsung or a pixel. apparently mouse and keyboard extensions aren’t supported on kdeconnect for this device but idk

zoe,

it has multiple one star reviews on flathub, what can i say…i am not the only one at least…

zoe,

i remember looking it up on flat, or less likely on snap-store (i rarely open it…so probbaly flathub yea), and it doesn’t to be maintained really i agree

how to optimize battery life?

So I recently bought a new honor magic 5 pro. My last phone the Huawei p20 pro was around 5 years old and started to show significantly less battery life. So I want to use this phone again for 5 years. But now I wonder should I keep the battery around 50% (65-35) and charge twice as often or should I 80-20 and charge once every...

zoe,

should have also shared the interview with Trump. Sharing both those videos from X to Masto

zoe,

next title: mass polluter in chief, lol
