The most recent episode of Doctor Who was my favorite episode since… maybe ever. The Doctor and Rogue are so cute, and Ruby is such a badass. The musical references were so perfect. And it didn’t get bogged down in lore or end the day with a Deus Ex Machina. Just a good old fashioned episodic story with character development and some action. 💜
I spent an hour or two today recording my voice — a little talking, but mostly singing. It really doesn’t sound as good recorded as it does in my head. I know that’s true for everybody, but I had gotten over that with my old voice. I really want to sing, though. I guess I just gotta keep trying.
There is just no fuckin way I could ever scrub my deadname from all of my github repos. I’ve got 59 repos. I don’t even know if I could find all the files, let alone the commit histories. Github should offer this as a service.
I’m kind of a confused mess right now. I realized earlier today that I went to the same store in girl mode one day and lazy boy mode the next day, and if anybody noticed, they just rolled with it. 😅
i think i’ve been transitioning slower than most folks i follow.
but i think today might have been the first time i spent an entire day girlmoding, including a job interview and a trip to my beloved taco bell. if i take this job, i’ll be Bee there from the start. (not stealth, though — i know some folks there from pre-transition)
feels like i’ve turned a corner. and it feels so nice.
I recently bought Myst. It’s one of those pieces of software I always wondered about. When it was released in 1993, my family couldn’t afford a computer that could run it. When we did finally get a proper PC in 1996, it was old hat.
Well, technically I bought a 3D reimagining of it, I guess.
It was… fine? I don’t know. Maybe I’m spoiled by better games that it inspired, like the Room series on iPad. It wasn’t bad, but it just left me a little disappointed.
@Obdurodon i feel the same way about some classic movies or music. like, you listen to the Beatles now, and they just sound like everything else. but at the time, they were doing new things. it’s impossible to experience with the original context
Sending an email coming out as trans to a close relative feels like opening the bomb bay doors in a B-17, releasing the payload, and waiting for the impact.
i wouldn’t say the writing on Doctor Who this season has been particularly great, but the show finally got its sense of fun back. the show had gotten so dark and dour. i love the excited energy of the new cast.
i don’t understand the kind of “futurist” who thinks it’s good to put chips in our brains, but bad to change our genders. They seem like the same kind of bio-hacking to me.
