I think one thing the cis world doesn't get about trans fems: we desperately want to just have someone take care of us for once.

People often say things like "Trans women are women," which okay, yeah, but they don't actually understand what we live with. So many of us, only a year or two into our transitions, are expected not only to know everything about ourselves and be able to give a full accounting of who we are and what we want and have all our ducks in rows to provide for it financially by ourselves, but we are often being asked to mother baby transes (babies raising babies) and nurturing our families too.

And having been treated as men before coming out, we often experiencing a touch and care deficit, with so few people seeing us as needing care or being able to accept it. And where cis women sometimes have cis gal pals to lean on, many of us don't have that and few cis women step up to treat us like one of the girls.

Hi Fedi Family,
In 2008 Californians voted for Prop8 that defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman in the California constitution. While this was defeated in courts this draconian Prop8 language is still in the California constitution. Justice tHomas and the right wing SCOTUS is openly hinting at destroying precedent and trampling rights. If they overturned Obergefell - the Prop8 language in the California Constitution will act as a “trigger law”, raining havoc on queer families like mine across California.
Please spread the word to vote “YES” to repeal Prop8 (2008) from the California constitution in Nov 2024. Talk to your friends, family and colleagues about it.

There should be job roles for burnt out Staff+ engineers to hang back, burn down the bug list, write tests, fix documentation, clean up alerts, and other assorted housekeeping. Stuff that’s impactful and soothing to engineers who’ve lost the motivation to lead from the front but still find satisfaction in those sorts of tasks.
