The fediverse has always grown in waves and we're at the start of one. It's worth looking at what tactics worked well in the past, to use them again or adapt them and build on them. It's also valuable to look at what went wrong or didn't work out as well in the past, to see if there are ways to do better....
I've had the same question. It seems like for a while there's going to be some growing pains since we're coming from a platform that's been around for more than a decade and has had time to grow and develop. I'm willing to stick it out and continue using kbin or whatever this is as long as I see other adopters and developers making apps eventually.
The thing I'm so surprised about is that there hasn't really been any competitor to Reddit this whole time.
