YSK - You can save mobile.weather.gov to your phones Home Screen and avoid the adds and bloat of other weather apps. https://mobile.weather.gov/

“Why YSK: Many paid and unpaid apps get their information from the National Weather Service (NWS). This information is freely available and paid for though taxes, which the other companies try to profit off of. Skip the BS and just go to the source. It might not be the most polished website, but it’s easily navigable (has an old iOS feel to it).

I can’t give a guide for android users, but for iPhone, open safari and head to “mobile.weather.gov”. Once the website is loaded, click the share icon on the bottom middle of your screen, and then select “add to Home Screen”.

PhantomAudio,

depending on you weather preferences Radar Now is a great weather radar app. ive used it for years

Aluminum8637,

On Android, in Chrome, select the 3 dots and part way down the page there is an item called Add to Homescreen. From there you can either automatically or manually place it.

How do you guys feel about websites requesting photo identification to ship when they previously didn’t… seems like a honeypot.

smartscience,

@Burp Only seen this from some semi-legitimate Canadian sites, that also ask you to describe e.g. your safety equipment and sometimes the proposed research. Given that my description was of a reasonable project and the chemicals themselves were not controlled in my country, I didn't have a problem with it. I might be more suspicious though of a new web site that asked for photo id, if it wasn't part of a more general account creation procedure.

What if Reddit federated? Would that be a good thing or a bad thing?

If federating meant their ads could creep into our spaces, then I bet they would just get defederated by everyone in hours.

Unfortunately I think Reddit's willingness to fake activity with bots is absolutely evil and something I hope never makes it over here.
