CtrlOpenAppleReset, to games in Critics must rescore Dragon's Dogma 2 in light of microtransactions

Missing a /s?
Maybe I'm missing the obvious sarcasm, but why in the hell does a deluxe versions exist? You done screwed up your game if the game play is so tedious I want to pay for in game credits (rift crystals) instead of earn them. Hey they put in time sucks so bad your going to want to pay to make them go away instead of play the game.

CtrlOpenAppleReset, to nostupidquestions in Is there a โ€œproperโ€œ way to say โ€œ6:05 AMโ€?

German class taught me fรผnf nach sechs.
Or if you want a real nighrmare
6:35
fรผnf nach halb vor 7
5 past half an hour to 7... It's in my textbook people look at me funny if I use it.
British English I still haven't figured out if half 7 is 6:30 or 7:30. Halb 7 in German is 6:30
Living in Germany coming from north America doing a lot of work with England I miss a lot of meetings that are at 17:30... Either I screw up the 12 hr change and can't remember if the said 7 or 17 and then where the half hour falls before or after.

CtrlOpenAppleReset, to thefarside in I understand close to none of the comics in here.

I have his whole anthology from the 90s. Two massive books. He was the first one to do a single panel comic. There is almost always at least double meanings If not triple so you have to know the common phrases or slang that's being referred to. One in the oven? Pregnant, but for a witch, it's Hanse and Grettle cooking children. The party and the bananas? Who is Tarzan going to invite to a dinner party? So after they host a party it's bananas everywhere. Instead of typical dinner party cleanup. You got one comic a day and sometimes you have to look and think and others were obvious. If it alludes to something and you don't know the reference, then you're lost. The chickens, cows and dogs were all recurring themes. I still absolutely die laughing at the boneless chicken ranch one. Probably my favorite. https://www.cardcow.com/911282/boneless-chicken-ranch-gary-larson-far-side/

CtrlOpenAppleReset, (edited ) to RedditMigration in Updated: Reddit is quietly restoring deleted AND overwritten posts and comments

This could be worse than anything else they've done. If they claim they own the data, are they then not responsible for it like newspapers? Is it in their terms and conditions they are free to do whatever with posted information, do they have the rights to edit users comments but in doing so become a content provider and therefore responsible. Kicking mods out doesn't land you in court this seems high risk to be manipulating content. Doesn't matter why it was deleted or edited it was deleted or edited who gets to decide what version to restore. Either you are hands off or you own the data and are responsible for it and upheld to media standards.

Edit: found a snippit of the terms and conditions in a German GDPR thread, It appears it is their terms and conditions that after you post it they can do with it what they like, even adapt it. Either way that's not a reason to be gone.

CtrlOpenAppleReset, to AskKbin in A lot subreddits end their blackout tomorrow. Will you go back to Reddit, or continue with kbin and the Fediverse?

I can understand the frustration, but reddit has 15 years of development and kbin has had a month with one person. So even an insane 400hr month vs x people times 15 years, it's gonna be behind. It's on a server system that costs about 60โ‚ฌ a month? It's amazing it works at all with 120000 users I think on Saturday it there we're <20000.. Users Is it reddit 2.0? Uh more like 0.2. It's something new but if you want a multi million dollar polished website this isn't it.

CtrlOpenAppleReset, to RedditMigration in Apolloโ€™s Christian Selig explains his fight with Reddit โ€” and why users revolted

Apollo is great it made so much so easy. Want to follow all the answers buried in an ama. No problem. Here's the list of questions with answers. super clean well thought out, years of development and continual improvement. He did things efficient, browse a subreddit, the first 25 items are pulled to update quick then it would wait a second an pull a long list so by the time you got past the first 25 the rest were loaded. I would have reddit open on my PC and go f this and open Apollo on my phone. Download save and share videos? long press and boom where do you want to send it? Pick any app on your phone. It's going to be a real pain in the ass to download funny cats to send to my girlfriend every morning now. Deleted my 10 year and 3 year old accounts.. Not looking back. The man did good work and he said Ok if it's like imigur no problem. Then they came out with Twitter pricing. Spez ain't no musk and musk is no one to follow.

CtrlOpenAppleReset, to kbinMeta in I ask everyone here to modmail large subreddits about kbin

Suggest Fedia.io instead of kbin.social, it's not yet hugged to death. Newer instance exact same deal. Better interaction with Lemmy and the others. Not all interactions between kbin.social and the rest of the federated sites work yet because Ernest is protecting against ddos with cloudflare, this restricts interactions but will get removed no idea on timeline. Literally this site is run by one guy @ernest and last I saw there were over 122 thousand subscribers. There's another kbin instance running too but I can't remember that one.

CtrlOpenAppleReset, to chat in How did you end up finding kbin? Did you migrate here from Reddit?

Reddit refugee. I opened a mastodon account when musk bought Twitter but I never used Twitter so I never used mastodon. I have to go back 10 years but reddit mobile used to be good then it started to suck and then I found Apollo and used that. Been through the various disasters reddit caused themselves. Firing Victoria, never enforcing rules fairly (until main stream media outrage) swathes of subreddit moderated by the same people. Spez editing comments now the API costs. All their crisis never needed to happen and their handling made them so much worse. I'm out. Did some Googling and this site kept popping up. Started learning about the Fediverse and I'm like this is cool. Made an account yesterday. I can't believe this is done by one guy Ernest. So I immediately bought him a coffee. :^)
