I refined FixedFun's mascot design for Kbin. Thoughts? Feedback? (More pics/alts in post!)

I really loved @FixedFun 's idea for the kbin mascot, so I decided to refine it a bit and make some color alternatives. All credit to them for this wonderful idea! I merely refined it. Note, the circles beside the logo are just a color pallete swatch, not actually meant to be apart of the logo....

chernoberl,

Lovely!

Regarding the name: In a lot of languages, cockatoos are spelled with a K, e.g. German „Kakadu“, Dutch „Kaketoe“, so a name starting with K would make sense, and there’s quite some Germanic names start with K, e.g. Karl, Klara, Katharina, Konrad, and many more. I personally like Klara, sounds like something a cockatoo would say on repeat. Just an idea.

I mean, yeah, Germany is certainly not the most welcoming country in the world, but wtf is she on about?

She literally complains about earning US$ from "freelance marketing gigs" (lol, is that code for "tiktok"?) and having to pay the exchange rate? I didn't realize US$ was the official currency in South Korea? Also gas is expensive, yes, but last time I checked it's basically impossible to buy something like a 50 mpg VW Golf in the US, so... (I suspect they're driving a RAM2500 and wonder why nobody likes them, lol)

"We live in a small German town called Otterberg because of my husband's job" vs "Also, we can't afford to live in a city like Berlin or Frankfurt, which have more young people and other expats." – What is it now?

I'm really looking forward to Stephanie's report from Bumfucknowhere, Ohio, because I seriously doubt they can afford to live in SF or NY either.

chernoberl,

The best thing is where she claims "state-sponsored integration programs offer language classes for free" in South Korea and the link goes to a page only listing youtube videos, duolingo, and books, udemy courses, etc. that are certainly not free.

This is a sincere question. I'm not asking it from any perspective. I just want to see how people answer this.

Can you explain why having your instance block a domain that you and others don't like instead of blocking the domain yourselves is preferable?

Thank you in advance.

chernoberl,

@Mrfunkedude Currently (as far as I understand it, I’m not the most technical person) federated instances exchange all their content with each other (except media I think). I think it’s only fair that instances block other problematic instances, at the end traffic is money and many instances are run by private people with their own money.

99% of the time I click on "Delete Redraft" when I'm using the desktop advanced interface, it's because I forgot to change the privacy setting to "Unlisted".

I wish it was an auto feature.

chernoberl,

@Mrfunkedude It is possible, do you see Preferences -> Other -> Posting Defaults? (It’s a bit hidden, at least on mobile: you need to go to Preferences, and then hit the hamburger menu on the top right to get to the „Other“ option).
