This is pissing me off to no end. I went on reddit and signed in out of habbit as I have a couple times already and before my account was gone and it wouldnt let me sign in....
I want to point out that while this may be true, I edited, then deleted mine before the subs started going private and when I checked with google, my comments and posts were showing [deleted] when I googled on them and clicked on them until yesterday. Now they are back. Reddit is restoring deleted comments and posts.
It’s disappointing to see some of the larger subreddits going public with a ‘what’s the point?’ tone. Most are staying private, but some aren’t. As if Reddit doesn’t exist solely because of its user generated content. If enough subs permanently shut down, they’ll be forced to reconsider their API position. Social...
I agree with this. I have found that with kbin and Lemmy I am happy to not visit Reddit again (not sure my preference between the two yet so I’ve been bouncing back and forth to decide which I like more).
I’d personally rather these places be filled with people who want to be here rather than people who are simply looking for their fix anywhere they can find it. Those people can stay on Reddit.
Right? And don’t they get mad when people ask for recipes? I swear I’ve seen tons of “This isn’t /r/cooking!” posts there, even when it’s clearly homemade. Seems like it’s just a bunch of low effort pics with no context. I could just do an image search on google for “food” if I wanted that.

I did the same thing with my 12+ account. They sure showed where their priorities are, and it’s not with the community that makes their site what it is. It’s gonna be even more of a cesspool if the mods leave.
Reddit keeps undeleting my account and posts. Is there anything I can do as an American Citizen?

I think we should (politely) message major hobby subreddits that went public to go private again. It's important to continue the protest.
