So fathers day will be celebrated on Sunday, June 18th in US, UK, CA & more. Do you have anything planned?

I thought this would be a good reminder as well. While I am not a father myself, I spend time with mine usually, doing whatever he has planned for the day. We're not really much for exchanging cards and such. I think time spent together is an ample way to spend the day overall....

Curious, if you were/are a Reddit user, will you be leaving the platform for good or have you already? CEO has called unpaid moderators' concerns "noise", that will be "passing soon."

There's a lot of noise with this one. Among the noisiest we've seen. Please know that our teams are on it, and like all blowups on Reddit, this one will pass as well. The most important things we can do right now are stay focused, adapt to challenges, and keep moving forward. We absolutely must ship what we said we would....

Well put, regarding the capture by corporate interests and the return. I couldn't really put my finger on why I had been feeling like the fediverse is as exciting and interesting as the early internet I experienced growing up, but I think that is at least a large part of why that is.

That's a great idea actually. Nice approach on the matter and thanks for spreading the word. I may keep my account just to do the same on desktop. I really don't want anything reddit related on my phone anymore though. With them forcing the use of their own app and pretty much making their mobile site unusable I'd just have to stick to desktop with ublock origin.

Now that I think of it, I haven't checked Reddit either since coming here. I really do think once people set foot here or on any instance for that matter there's a good chance they won't want to go back. I also feel like, there's really nothing stopping people from striking up new communities to represent ones they (and others) may have lost, which is great. Also I have a similar approach on the ads, I run ad-guard DNS on my phone and it works with most things, but what it doesn't work with doesn't get a place on my phone.

Has anyone else been losing track of time in the Fediverse?

I've heard other people talk about falling down Reddit holes over the years, but I was never this engaged on Reddit. I posted maybe a handful of times. Hours are definitely passing quickly for me while browsing kbin, mastodon, and participating in related chats and such. It's definitely one of the first things I think about when I wake up, which is a testament to how intoxicating it is. That said, I don't let anything get in the way of my sleep these days. Overall, I'm glad to have discovered the fediverse. It feels engaging in a way that the early web did for me as I was growing up.

Do you have any planned vacations? Where to? Do you have a favorite destination?

I currently don't have any planned that I'm looking forward to, but someone I know is currently in Costa Rica for a trip and is having a blast from what I hear. I'm thinking of planning something! I do have availability to do one soon, just not sure where I'd go yet.

Outside of this, do you use anything that could be considered social media?

I originally had signed up for a few social media platforms in their early days but over time I felt that I wasn't seeing what I thought I wanted to see. As companies started tailoring their algorithms things started to get less relevant to my interests. As a result I left behind those platforms for a couple of years before...

Welcome Guy! Glad you decided to make an account here and joined us. I haven't used Infinity before, ended up using Sync for Reddit (on Android) for many years, but like the rest of them it's on the way out as well.

I would start by checking into the public magazine list. Unfortunately you will find a lot of sparsely populated magazines, but it is up to us to create new content to help make this place worth sticking around for as well. There are however some active ones out there, and I'm sure you will find a few worth subscribing for! That said, thank you so much for contributing this to the community. I'm looking forward to reading others opinions on some of the best communities the fediverse has to offer.

OC How did you end up finding kbin? Did you migrate here from Reddit?

I was initially introduced to Mastodon a few years ago by a close friend and picked up on it quickly given the benefits of not having to deal with advertising, or being shown what a mega-corporation thought I should have to see through algorithms. Welcome and hello! Definitely agreed, It's very encouraging to see the activity increasing here. I know quite a few people have expressed that they are unhappy with Reddit right now. I hope they stick around for a while so we can carve out a better community here.

Since kbin doesn't keep track of total upvotes, is karma farming a thing of the past? Or will it just look different?

@AdmiralSnackbar I think here karma farming will be over unless something is changed, which maybe is a good thing. Seems like follows are the only thing that matters on the profile page.
