Who do you think has been pushing for the back doors? The intelligence community and law enforcement. They want EASY access to everything so they don't have to take the effort to break encryption after getting a warrant (if they even both with a warrant). You can bet your bottom dollar they are exempt from this law for "public safety."
Narwhal said they are going to continue and start going subscription only once Narwhal 2 is released. Apparently they worked out some kind of delay on billing.
That was my understanding, also. I read that the first billing for devs would be sent on Aug 1, so developers who did not want to pay shut their apps down on June 30 so they wouldn't have even one bill for API use. However, it also sounds like Reddit shut off the API early from what Christian Selig said so they continued their petty games.
I'm finishing up "Summer Reading" by Jenn McKinlay, about an out of work chef who visits family on Martha's Vineyard to chaperone her 14 year old half brother while the parents are away for the summer. She is dyslexic and ends up falling for a local librarian. Very much a summer "beach read" type book and so far really entertaining. I love Jenn's cozy mysteries and just started reading her stand-alone contemporaries. I love her characters and the humor she adds to all her books.
Next up is The 5 Years Before You Retire by Emily Guy Birken, a retirement planning book. Have to get my ducks in a row for retirement in a few years!
My couch was part of an “urban contemporary” line they had years ago, so not the overstuffed monstrosity many couches are. I like legs on recliners so the Scarlett and Charlotte are my speed. I just haven’t pulled the trigger because I have comfortable chairs that are still in good shape, so I can’t justify replacing them yet.
I had no idea a virus could cause these streaks. I just thought it came about through selective tulip breeding (is that what it is called in horticulture?).
The sheer number of cat subreddits alone(!) is daunting on Reddit. They had a whole wiki page devoted to link after link of cat subs and new ones kept popping up! I don't mind that every instance seems to have a "cats" community - they'll all end up having a plethora of cat photos to keep me happy. :)
I'm not sure how new you are, but I started over this past weekend with both kbin and sh.itjust.works. Having a few uninterrupted hours checking out the different tabs, communities, magazines, etc. was a big help. I basically jumped in also, but just having time to LOOK at things, read posts, and check out different communities made me feel comfortable. I still don't grasp how the microblog section works, but that's something new to explore next weekend I guess.
